Heat have Signed free agent forward Tyrone Hill and waived guard
    Kirk Penney.

Saw it on ESPN...Can't believe It has taken to long for him to get a team.He isn't some superstar but he is a good vet who will get rebounds inside and toughen their front-line up.

    Soild signing.

Yes allnet, very solid signing indeed. This team needed Hill with all these injuries, who can't use D and rebounding anyway?

that team is in shambles. i dont know why t hill went there, im sure he could have gotten better offers from some of the contending teams out there, i bet if he was still available in december, dallas would be all over the guy.

Donnie Nelson seems to think that he doesn't need D.
    Good pick-up by the Heat.

The problem with the Mavs is not D, to me the team is not being stubborn enough and are playing too passive out of respect to their teamates.

Put the ball in the basket.

To me It is the lack of post present defense which is why the Mavs are struggling..They have no one who can match-up with anyone with a low post game down low. They give up alot of cheap buckets in the post...I just don't think having both Jamison and Walker is the right mix....Nash controls their team and now that he is injuried they look all over the place. They have No guy who can handle the ball consistantly like Nash...Nelson needs to play Best more as he is a true PG...but It still won't make much difference as he is not a player you can depend on.They just need better post defense...It's not that their overall defense is bad as it isn't.They also I have noticed have no one who wants to take charge of any situation. They no longer have a NVE on their roster..A guy who can come in and give them a spark...He gets everyone fired up and is a guy who can change any game. They really miss Nick right now.

Back to the Heat and Hill...I don't see how this a bad thing for him or the Heat.Odom is NOT playing power forward...That spot on the floor goes to rookie Udonis Haslem..who BTW is having a great season so far..Averaging 11 points and 9 rebounds per game.Brian Grant is their center so no way shape or form has Odom had to play the power forward spot.He shouldn't play there anyway...

Hill gives them depth at forward and a guy who can give them 5-7 rebounds a game while getting the odd points when needed

Yea, Nelson thinks that they can go and score 100ish every night to win. Obviously, that's not happening right now. I mean, 71 points the other night??? C'mon, that's bad. I mean, when you're having an offnight, that's when it's good to be able to play "d". Granted they did play "d", holding the Raptors to only 79 points, but, why can't they play good "d" consistently and score. That's been their problems all year so far. They've been highly inconsisteng on both ends. One night, they can score 100, the next night, 70. Doesn't make sense. Especially considering this team led the league in scoring last year. They need to find rhythm on offense right now, cause, they won't be in every game when they're only scoring 70s.

The Mavs (94.7 OPPG) are playing better D than the Lakers (97.6, which is 6th worst), so cut the ****.

Yea, but the Lakers are also scoring more than the Mavs. The Lakers may be allowing 3 points more per game than the Mavs, but, they're also averaging 106.4, the Mavs are averaging 96.5. That's why LA is undefeated.

Great signing for the Heat, I though Chicago would pick him up - I agree he shouldn't have taken this long to find a team. Should be a great help to Haslem too, who's looked very good thus far.

^It's a shame too. The Bulls certainly could have used him. They could have waived Corie Blount to free up some money. It's not like we need Blount [IMG]

I think Tyrone would have been a great signing for the Bulls, he'd teach Eddy Curry how to play a bit of defense now and then.

Yeah, Udonis spent some time in a Spurs summer league team and he played very well. I thought we might have taken some interest in him but I'm glad he got to Miami (his home, I think) and playing well. He's got a few double-doubles I think. Good on him.

Did Doug Moe and the late 80's Nuggets needed D ? [IMG]
