Jarvis Hayes was real impressive last night it seems..dropped 22 points on the Cavs. This guy is so underrated and is a darkhorse for ROY...Lebron is still putting up some sick numbers..playing that all-round game we know he has.Melo dropped 30 on the Clippers on saturday night the first rookie this season to do so.

Wow, lots of the rookies are struggling with their shot right now. I mean, damn, 3 or those players are shooting beneath 40%. Ouch. But, yea, if this keeps up and the rest, aside from well, really Hayes, find a better and more consistent jump shot, it'll be close. Especially between LeBon and Melo.

It could actually come down to who has the better record - Washington, Cleveland, Denver and Miami all missed the playoffs last year and the Bucks getting weaker was well publicised. If one of these teams betters their record significantly, particularly Cleveland or Denver, then there's a good chance of getting ROY (remember Kidd with Dallas). Of course I'm assuming the stats of most NBA ready rooks listed will even out a bit (As in Melo's stats may go down, Wade's may go up etc)

Could someone fill me in on David West? Is he injured? I was extremely impressed with his preseason play and I think he will develope into one of the league's brightest starters in the future.

Haslem was in the draft but didn't get drafted last year though so he played overseas I think, so it is his first year in the L and that qualifies him as a rookie in my books. This is a great rookie class and should be interesting to watch in the future unlike some of the other recent ones.

I think Haslem will be considered a rookie just like Speedy Claxton was eligible for ROY in his second year after being drafted. If you don't actually play any games you are considered a rookie the next year. So Haslem is considered a rookie and Nick Collison may be next year.

David West is on the IL I'm pretty sure, he did look good in pre-season. Luke Ridnour has also looked good this year, but his minutes will dwindle with AD back now and then Ray.

It's called bringing a player along slowly..He is only 18 remember..first time in the USA..He needs time and a few years to be the player everyone hopes he will be.Lary Brown says he keeps getting better and better in practise which is why he played about 5 minutes the other night against the Bucks.Right now he is a project.

Thats a good point. Slowly bring him along and get him used to playing in America.

Hes definitely a project. Yao was new to the league and made a sudden impact. Lebron is only 18 as well, and we all know how hes doing.

Also the Pistons team has a good enough frontcourt to play without him...It's not like his offense and rebounding is needed.

    With Wallace,Okur,Campbell,Prince

As the main forward players...Give Darko a few years and he should be able to produce. The Yao Ming and Lebron situation are completly different to what Darko is going through...Yao is like..what 22/23? had long time experience in China and for his country.Lebron is NBA ready..He has the body to be a success early on.Darko if went to high school in america would be in his final year at school right now...People need to bare that in mind.

Wow, Lebron shooting 16% from the 3 point line...ouch.

He's been impressive in most other categories though.

The Pistons sure dont need him right now. I didnt expect much from him this year either. He was just a solid gamble for the Pistons future

Damn I was thinking he would have been in his first year at college.

That's about right - remember David Stern changed the drafting rules so darko and Baby Shaq could enter the draft (they weren't 18 by the cut off date, but were 18 by the draft).

Joe Dumars fell in love with Darko at his first workout - Joe hasn't put a foot wrong as a GM, so to take Darko over Carmelo says something about the kid's talent. I think in a few years Darko will be huge over here, has that real nasty competitive streak that most europeans don't have. Also, unlike most euros, he loves the physical contact of banging inside.

Yea, gotta agree. If LeBron could shoot the 3 and be a consistent free throw shooter, he'd be a complete player already. Those both will come though as he continues to grow and get used to the league.
