Crawford becomes a restricted free agent after this season, which means the Bulls can match any offer. But Crawford believes his days with the team are numbered. His proof includes the Bulls' drafting point guards Jay Williams and Hinrich the last two summers, as well as Paxson not extending Crawford's contract this summer.

''I've never had a chance here, it doesn't seem like,'' Crawford said.

Crawford said he's not sure if he'll be with the Bulls past the February trade deadline. He said he hasn't asked agent Arn Tellem to request a trade, but Tellem called Paxson on Sunday.

''I told Jamal there is no writing on the wall,'' Paxson said. ''I haven't made a determination that he's gone or staying. We're just seven games into the season.''

Paxson also might get a call from Rose's agent, David Falk, who once represented Paxson as a player.

''I have a lot of respect for Pax,'' said Rose, who is a co-captain with Scottie Pippen. ''We had a great meeting, and we talked about a lot of things.

''But I feel I'm a starter in this league. And at this point in my career, I don't want to settle for mediocrity. It's better for this team, and it gives us the best chance to win, when you have your best players on the court.''

Rose, whose string of 323 consecutive starts was snapped Saturday, discounted the theory he played better because he was angry about being benched. He said his right thumb, which was strained and kept him out of the preseason, is healing.

Cartwright said the players' only concern should be winning. He was upset when Crawford complained about playing time after a victory over Atlanta, and he wasn't any happier Sunday.

Asked if he was disappointed with the comments, Cartwright said: ''You tell me, considering we won. I would say that's our goal. Did we achieve our goal? If we achieved our goal, shouldn't you be happy? I don't know, maybe it's just me.

''What would you rather have, the starts we were having and a 21-point loss? Or would you rather have the start we had and a win? It's pretty simple to me.''

After losing four of the first six games by an average of 27 points, Cartwright felt an urgency to shake things up. Paxson has made it clear he won't accept excuses for losing.

''Everybody, the coaches and every player on the roster, is going to be held accountable,'' Cartwright said.

Paxson backed Cartwright and recently urged his coach to sit whichever players he felt weren't producing.

I think Crawford is being unnecessarily paranoid. Just because he didn't start on Saturday and we drafted another point guard doesn't mean he'll be traded. Did he expect the Bulls to be without a 2nd string point guard? I sure hope not. And then there's the case of who deserves to start. Well of course Jalen and Jamal are better players and deserve to start over Hinrich and Robinson, but they have to show that they're willing to work harder. Nothing is set in stone. They should play every night as if they're fighting for a starting position.

I will personnally slap him if he leaves the bulls. Quit complaining, just play your hardest when you play to prove you should start

Yeah, they need to shup up. Personally, I don't think that Cartwright is the best coach for this team. How many people on the team actually respect him as a coach? Prolly only Fred Hoiberg and hes not even on the team. If they had a coach who had the respect of the players and was a good coach, I don't think anyone would be speaking out cause of playing time and starting. Also he constantly tries to run the triangle when it obviously doesnt work. This team would be a great running the floor team with players like Eddy Robinson, Chandler, Crawford, ect. And if we keep on holding back and waiting to start the boring offense, it doesnt suit the Bulls players needs. Also, you need a great player to run the triangle effectivly. Like a Kobe, Mj, Tmac, ect. type player. I dont think we have one. The only one that is close is Rose and he doesnt even start.LMAO. Anyway, jsut my opinion.

^sorry about that.. here it is: http://www.suntimes.com/output/bulls/cst-spt-bull101.html

Of course Crawford should be starting, but I don't think he should relax his game just because he thinks he's got the starting position locked. Like I said before, he should play as if he's competing for the starting spot every night. Not just when he feels like it. [IMG]

Maybe Mr. Bill isn't the coach for this team like beasly3 said. I mean after all, he cares. He cares enough to have another one of those crying episodes (according to Peter Vescey). I guess this group of young, somewhat talented, intellectually challenged, selfish players deserve another coach. Someone like Don Nelson perhaps. Then they can trade Jamal and let Chandler or Curry bring up the ball and dump it into Pippen and Rose. Or maybe Pat Riley will come back. Then they might have pretend they are playing defense. After all those years with Jordan, Bull fans should accept this.

I know it wont be a popular opinion, but Crawford needs to be traded. He hasn't proven to be a leader. And what the Bulls need is a leader at the PG spot. Thats why Hinrich was drafted. Hinrich was a leader at Kansas. He was the one whom Kansas looked to when things got rough. He was the player that calmed Kansas.

Crawford has shown talent, granted. But he can never play at a high level for very long. He is not consistant at all. And worse, he is a poor leader. On a young team, a leader needs to emerge.

I dont care if Crawford has "more potential" than Hinrich. It will never be fully utilized unless Crawford grows up.

And Id be very wary of extending someone's contract that has yet to prove he can lead a team(and Crawford will be demanding Arenas type money).

    Exactly.

    I am sick of it.

Crawford wont even take any of the blame for the Bulls losses, problems, etc. Its time to grow up, or ship out.
