And what a battle it has been so far At halftime Arenas 23 points on 8-13 shooting 4-6 threes Iverson 20 points on 7-12 shooting 2-2 threes As for the game Wizards up 57-50 But this shooting battle is a very good one so far...40 each maybe? Possible... GA is a stud...What a signing he has been for those Wizards GS not getting him back could be the biggest mistake they made for quite a long time..
It was a mistake by not resigning him. But, people like Mike Dunleavy have really stepped up this season. Plus, Jason Richardson is back from suspension and Nick Van Exel is there. Not too mention, they did pick up a descent player in Cliff Robinson. So, in all reality, this team really isn't all that bad. They replaced Arenas fairly nicely win Nick Van Exel. And, they have Dunleave playing great ball, as he's droppin 16.7 points a night. So, really, I criticized this move early on, but, it really wasn't that bad. Cause, by doing this, they've allowed Dunleavy to show what he can do. But, he also did a lot of damage early in the season when Nick was injured and JRich was suspended. We'll see how he keeps it up now that the rest are back, but, I really don't think it was that bad of a move now that I've analyzed it.
It may not seem bad now but in a few years when Arenas puts up all-star numbers it will hurt..More so when most likely NVE will leave and he is no young guy anymore Anyways the battle has continued in the 2nd half under 3 minutes left in the game AI had 37 Arenas 34 100-97 Sixers..Arenas just hit a big three
Arenas ends with 36 points, 10 assists, and 7 boards (or something close to that) Ive ends with 40 points, 5 assists, and 4 boards (I think) Sixers win.
Just like Moo2k4 said, they have replaced him nicely. allnet is also right in saying that this will hurt the Warriors in the future. The Warriors really didn't have a chance at Arenas with that big contract so its not fair to say that the Warriors made a terrible move. Great match up BTW.
I think GA is a fine player, but let's temper our long term expectations accordingly. When Stackhouse gets back, he will demand the ball more, Jarvis will come off the bench and start grabing some of that G time and GA will not be the mega-stud he is right now. I say ride em while he's hot but trade him just before Stackhouse comes back. Then you can get something big out of him before he dips.

Arenas will get his shots with or without Stackhouse...He got all the shots he needed on a team with more options than the Wizards have. With Jamison,Richardson,Murphy,Dampier,Boykins all players who got their points last season.Gilbert's game won't change even when Stack comes back...and If Stack plays that team game he can be a pretty good player..With Eddie Jordan there to control things they should have no problem sharing their shots.

What's hurting them is injuries. I do believe JRich went down the other night with a knee injury. XRays were negative though.
Actually no,money was not the issue.I was listening to the audio when Arenas was interviewed by one of the radio stations in Golden State that said Arenas was going to re-sign with GS for the MLE and get paid big money the following season..But the Warriors owner said "NO" which is why Arenas decided to take the big 67 million contract from the Wizards. If the owner of the Warriors had agreed to what Arenas was willing to do he would still be a member of the Warriors team.
Thats odd. The Warriors owner was on KNBR last night with Tom Tolbert and he said that the Warriors were unable to pay Arenas the kind of money that the Wizards were offerring. He said there was no way they could've resigned him so they made the moves to replace him accordingly.
that was a great game. ga really impressed me. i haven't seen him much since i don't see alot of west coast games... especially teams like golden state.
How in the world did Arenas drop to the second round? I loved him at Arizona and he didn't play badly at all. He was playing the 2, but juan dixon did also and he got drafted 1st round (somehow). I would say that it was a good thing for both arenas and GS that he did not re-sign. The Warrirors are in need of a "passing" point and Arenas didn't really fit that crieteria. THe offense actually ran smoother when boykins was in the game last year. I think that had a lot to do with GS's reluctance to sign Arenas to that huge contract.

The Warriors could've signed him to a one year contract then big money next year. That's all GA wanted, he just needed Cohan to say yes. Cohan didn't so Arenas bolted. Notmuchgame, Arenas is an all-around point guard. He can pass, score, rebound, and has decent defense. Him being the point guard he is would not have caused any problems whatsoever with the team. The offense only ran smoother in the fourt quarter when Boykins was in the game, but that can somewhat be attributed to the fact that Arenas was, and still is, a young player who didn't necessarily know how to deal with fourth quarter situations. All of that would have come with time. Well, it was that and Boykins was just that damn good in the fourth quarter

He also said that he had a decision to make and he made the one that was in the best interest of the Warriors(referring to having a deeper team I'm guessing).
