<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Knicks recently made another attempt to acquire Chicago Bulls point guard Jamal Crawford, but the trade fell apart when Scott Layden refused to include a first-round pick, according to a league source.

The deal would've included at least one other team. Layden, the Knicks president, has been trying to upgrade the team's point-guard position for the past two years. Crawford, 23, is at the top of his list. The Bulls would trade Crawford, who sprained his neck in Thursday's loss to Minnesota, but they have made it clear that they will not give their former lottery pick away.

I wonder who was in the deal? hmmm

I reckon Crawford will be traded and before the all-star break It seems clear to happen. But reports say not many teams want him.

Jamal can/could be an all star and it might take another team for him to break out into an allstar...BTW he was at Rainier Beach when in high school ,whats the standard in that ???

Crawford is a great player. In my opinion, he's the 2nd best player on that team, they just don't realize it. Cause, yea, last year, they started a rookie at point guard over him the majority of the season, this year, they're doing it again. I don't understand why they don't see that he's good. Or, that he's gonna run the point better than Hinrich can right now. But, I'm not the one making decisions down in Chitown so I guess I really have absolutely no say in this crappy decision of not starting him.

Crawford is talented. But has yet to learn the game of bball. Hinrich (a rookie) seems to know the game better then him (except for his erratic play)

I'd be happy to see him go if we can get some decent players for him. He is obviously not the PG the Bulls want. At best Jamal is a small SG.

The Bulls drafted Hinrich for several reasons. But one thats coming to light is his leadership. When you watched KU, sure....Gooden was their scorer, inside presence, etc.

But when things got tough, Hinrich hit the shots. You cannot teach someone to be a 'big time player.' Hinrich may never be a superstar. But he will be there in the clutch, he will be a leader, and more importantly, he is a winner.

Crawford has good size, athleticism, and raw talent. But that can only take you so far. He has NOT shown leadership skills required in a PG, especially needed in a young team. He has been disruptive. Talking about contracts, PT, and talking to the press about all this. This causes team chemisty to break apart.

There is a reason Hinrich is playing. Its bec. w/o Pippen, the team has no leader.

Sure, Crawford could be a star. But thats a gamble. Crawford will demand Arenas- type salary in the offseason. Is he worth it? Hell no. Not for someone who has yet to prove he can lead a team and play consistently. Why does everyone declare JC a "soon to be star?" He has yet to prove he can ascertain that level of play.

Crawford is on his way out. Lets hope we can gain a sweet shooting, but also defensive 2/3 out of the trade.

Magic will take him. We need another scoring option behind Tmac.

We can address that rather cheapily in FA next year.

A sweet stroking 2/3 that can defend is harder to acquire.

Yea. The Bulls don't have a consistend 3pt threat, which they desperately need to stay in these games they've been losing.

    http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...bulls-headlines

By Sam Smith in the Chicago Tribune. Apparently the Knicks really want Jamal The trade follows as is: The Bulls deal Jamal Crawford, Jalen Rose and Eddie Robinson to the Knicks for injured Antonio McDyess, Charlie Ward and Frank Williams.

But I dunno... I dont want McDyess. Charlie Ward wouldn't be TOO bad, nice leader great passing ability and good ball control. But we can't give up our main scoring option for an ify McDyess.

Its about cap. We gain cap room in this trade. McDyess and Ward expire after this year, freeing up roughly 20 million in cap.

^ I realize that. But are we trying to throw this year away? And who's the free agents next year that we could get? A good SG/SF/PG are needed.

This would be a great deal for Chicago gone are Paxsons 3 biggest problems and it really gives him the chance to move forward.

And if McDyess returns they would have one hell of a front line. Ward would be a serviceable backup to Hinrich.

Would be surprising if NY didi this though they have been waiting for Antonio for so long and the last thing layden needs is more big contracts giving him even less flexibility.

Hard to say but at least this would create some excitement

Just think Chi fans if Dyess is healthey again after this deal.

    Curry/Chandler
    Dyess/Marshall/Fizer
    Pippen/Gill/Fizer
    Gill/Pippen
    Hinirich/Ward

That would be one hell of a front line

Ward would start, Hinrich would back him up
Also, you would have to start Chandler/Curry together. You aren't trying to win championships now. Therefore you have to get these kids out there. It might mean having McDyess playing at SF, out of position but thats the only way it can be done

    C - Curry/Blount
    PF - Chandler/Baxter/Marshall
    SF - McDyess/Marshall/Fizer
    SG - Gill/Pippen
    PG - Ward/Hinrich/Williams
