Next season The Division Format Changes

As we already know but check this out

    Eastern Conference

    Southeast Division:
    Charlotte
    Atlanta
    Miami
    Orlando
    Washington

    Atlantic Division:
    Boston
    New Jersey
    New York
    Philadelphia
    Toronto

    Central Division:
    Chicago
    Cleveland
    Detroit
    Milwaukee
    Indiana

    Western Conference

    Southwest Division:
    Dallas
    San Antonio
    Houston
    New Orleans
    Memphis

    Northwest Division:
    Seattle
    Portland
    Utah
    Denver
    Minnesota

    Pacific Division:
    Los Angeles Lakers
    L.A. Clippers
    Golden State Warriors
    Sacramento Kings
    Phoenix Suns

The Timerwolves plea to join the eastern conference was shut down.As they will continue to deal with playing Pacific time-zone teams.

But this is the thing that got my attention

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Southeast Division:
    Charlotte
    Atlanta
    Miami
    Orlando
    Washington</div>

Not dis-respect for the fans of these teams but what a TERRIBLE divison that is.How could they have so many bad teams in that one division. That might be the worst in all of pro sports

Now lets check out the midwest division

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Southwest Division:
    Dallas
    San Antonio
    Houston
    New Orleans
    Memphis </div>

Now that is amazing set of teams...Southwest Division will without a doubt be the best division in the NBA.While so far this season no team in the midwest has a losing record..They are all over 500 I believe.

    Something to think about hey.

The Pacific Division could be a good one. I'm not sure who has a losing record, I don't think any of them. Maybe the Suns. Dunno. But, yea, that SE division is horrible. But, the big thing next year I think will be NO in the West. How will they adapt to that style of ball is gonna be a big question for them I think.

Allnet, you're not alone wondering how sad the Southeast Division is going to be. Also The Wolves would have been the hands down favourite to win the east had they had their way... It's too bad they didn't as I would have liked to have seen that. I think it would have forced the east to step up a bit.

Well looks like Seattle have an easier division now, which I guess is good, but they usually have a decent record against other Pacific teams anyway. I agree that SE one is a shocker though...

Im not a big fan of 3 divisons in 1 conference. I have some generalized questions... if you know the answer feel free to school me on it.

How is the scheduling going to work? I'll use my favorite team for example... Minnesota... will they play San Antiono 4 times (different divison) a year still?

And how will playoff seeding work? Say Minnesota is 2nd in the divison. Is the highest seed they can get is 4th?

Southwest Divison looks like a toughie.

I would assume that all Western teams still play eachother 4 times and Eastern teams 2, and I woudl have also thought it would still be the top 8 from the East and West, regardless of division. That said, if that was the case then it's hard to see a point to all of this

This should answer your question [IMG]

"Home-court advantage throughout the playoffs will be based solely on regular-season records. That means a divisional winner will not necessarily have home court advantage in the playoff series"

I really think that the Pacific is atleast as good as the Southwest:

    Lakers < San Antonio

    Kings < Mavs

    Suns = Rockets

Warriors < Hornets (though I think it's closer than some think)

    Clippers = Grizz

The only real advantage that the Southwest has is the Hornets over the Warriors, but by next year who knows how things will turn out. With the group of guys the Warriors have now they are only bound to get better as they have already proven they can hang with the likes of the lakers and Kings without being fully healthy.

Minnesota is pretty much going to be the division winner with this division. I love this idea.

come on this division is too weak

    Seattle
    Portland
    Utah
    Denver
    Minnesota

the other two west divisions are way too goodin the west, they could have made them alot more even. And well the east is the east, it doesnt really matter what kinda divisions there are.

The Magic definately need to take advantage of that division.

Divisions appear to be made based on location. Not the ability of the teams which can change every few years anyway.

That division is not weak at all.Don't know where you got that idea from.

    Wolves
    Blazers
    Sonics
    Denver

Are all good teams..with Sonics and mainly Denver as the teams on the up..
