This is a Sixers.com exclusive, where Coach Ayers talks about the performance and lack thereof about the team as a whole. What we should improve on, and so forth.

I will be posting links for every review as much as I can.

I think from a coaching standpoint, you never think like you are fully prepared, but I thought the last couple of days were productive (in practice), so we are ready to go. I think it is going to take us some time to see if we are better or not. I think it is going to take us a little while to get the rhythm of the season and start putting some things together. Whether we are better or not remains to be seen. </div>

I think we need to show some more consitancy in rebounding and defending the basketball. I think that needs to be consistent every night to give yourself an opportunity to win.</div>

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">We'll go down (to Washington) limited, but we'll go down there to play and compete. It's another opportunity for us to compete on the road, so we just have to try to pull it together and get a win. Our thoughts going into the Chicago game was to play Kenny (Thomas) a little bit more at the three, to try to get a little bit bigger frontline, but now with his injury we'll just have to wait and see. </div>

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">On Allen Iverson so far…
Coming out of the summer, I saw a more mature Allen, one that wanted to take more of a leadership role. He’s done well in that area this year so far. Putting him at the point, gets the ball in his hands early so he doesn’t have to play against as many half court defenses as he did in the past. We’ll have to continue to find a blend to keeping him on the ball and off the ball.

On Aaron McKie’s performance this season…
We’ve really tried to keep (Aaron) off the ball a little bit more to free him up to score. He’s done that. He’s gotten some threes to fall early, and I think that helps his confidence. We have to take advantage of him sometimes. Aaron is a guy you don’t have to call a lot of plays for, he knows how to feed off other people and you need to have those types of players in your organization.</div>

Well from what you have posted Sasha, it shows this guy is really intellegent, and knows what he is doing. He is running the Sixers great this year, giving everyone minutes, of the players who deserve them, and really is starting a decent ball club this year. Still we are 8-8 and needs more wins, but there is nothing to criticize Randy of yet. Best of luck to him and the Sixers. I know he is doing better than Larry would've.

I agree, plus we are without Glenn and that is a big reason why were .500.

Glenn (Robinson) looked a little better (on Monday), he made some hard cuts. He looked a lot better conditioning-wise (which is) is a concern because he has not practiced or played in a long time. He looked like he could push off a little bit better (on Monday).

DC (Derrick Coleman) practiced as well and looked pretty good. Again, it?s conditioning at this point. The longer you sit out, the more practice and conditioning becomes a factor, so we?ll see how he feels now.

Kenny had a little soreness coming out of the game a couple nights ago and saw the doctor (on Monday). So we?ll have to get an update on him as well.</div>

I am glad that we have some time at home now. I hope that we have some productive practices, rehab and try to get people healthy. I think that would really help. We've got a lot of things that we really need to shore up, especially on the defensive end.

    On Glenn Robinson
He has conditioned well the last week. One of the reasons that we keep our guys at home is so that they can get a couple of sessions in during the day. I think for the first time back he didn't look too bad, but he's got a long ways to go.</div>

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">On the injuries
You still have to maintain a certain work ethic. My biggest frustration is not being able to go five on five, and go up and down and try to plays and experiment in practice. So what we?ve tried to do is back off a little bit and go more two-on-two, three-on-three in practice, and that?s good, you can get a lot of good work in from that level. So we?re trying not to let the injuries stand in the way of us making progress in other areas.

I look at it like we get Glenn (Robinson) back later this month, and we get Marc (Jackson) back and Willie (Green) back, and you?re sort of adding to the mix as you go. So hopefully we don?t sustain any more serious injuries.</div>

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">On the young players' minutes
You tend to go early in the year with the veteran players, and as the young players step up in practice you have a little bit more confidence in them. With the injuries we?ve had to play the young players, and I hope it serves us well down the stretch. To me (the Utah game) was the most comfortable that Kyle Korver has looked on the floor. Before I think he was questioning his ability to hit a shot, and after (the Utah game) I think he knows he can hit a shot.

Samuel (Dalembert) has been tremendous in his growth, and he?s got a long ways to go. He?s a young player, up and down, but the more work he puts in on and off the court in terms of watching tape, it?s going to help him get better.</div>

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">We are looking at (Allen Iverson) maybe joining us on the West Coast trip. I don?t know when. He said it wasn?t any better, but it didn?t get any worse in the last 24 hours. To me that is a positive. He has been rehabbing, getting treatment on it. That?s where we are at right now with his injury? And really, (having) the MRI and finding nothing structurally wrong...it?s the pounding he?s been taking on the knee. The constant bangs he takes on the knee that?s been the problem.

I hope (he does not change his game when he comes back). I think one of the things that makes him a great player is his fearlessness. Being able to take it to the rim. The last couple of years he has been more selective with that anyway, in terms of when he drives the ball and when he doesn?t. He has to stay aggressive with the ball. No.1 it?s part of his game, and overall it?s part of his nature to be aggressive.</div>

Hey Sasha- Is there any news on Aaron McKie and Kenny Thomas you can find. It says Kenny is out with flu-like symptoms and McKie has a sprained left hamstring. If those 2, A.I. and Coleman are out we only have 2 starters (Snow,Robinson) who do you think will step up. Im guessing Dalembert at C because he started last time DC was missing against Orlando. But who will take the PF and SG?

I couldn't find any info on Aaron or Kenny, maybe Erin could get us the latets info, seeing as she lives in Philadelphia.

I'm guessing that Sam will step up huge, I love his play, and his amazing work ethic, he is a pretty fast player for his size, he gets it done. He hustles with the best of them, isn't afriad to bang in the post either, he is diefinetely a great asset, and I'm glad that he's getting some time.
