I saw this trade idea on another message board, tell me what you think. I thought it was very interesting.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">During the summer, all you read about when you read about the Sonics is them trying to get a good power forward, since they don't have one right now, and them trying to trade one of their collection of expensive young big men, as well as Vladimir Radmanovic, who is playing the same position as Rashard Lewis and isn't really happy at the PF position.

Now that the Magic are making cuts, and looking to change the team, I thought of this deal. I've head it in my head for a while, but I didn't want to post it because I didn't think it was really a possibilitty up until now.

    How about this:

    Orlando trades
    - Juwan Howard
    - Gordon Giricek

    Seattle trades
    - Vladimir Radmanovic
    - Jerome James

Right now that trade can't be made, because the Magic "recently" signed Juwan Howard, but starting december 15 the trade could be made, and it would work under the cap.

Why would the Magic do this?
They're starting to make cuts, and since their two-powerforward-duo isn't really working, and their SF and C spots are still a bit in the blue, this trade looks pretty good for them. After the trade, a rotation of Lue/T-Mac/Radmanovic/Gooden/James would finally start to look like a normal NBA lineup, something Orlando hasn't had in years. Their bench isn't really strong after the trade, but that's just because they trade two bench players for two players who would be starting after the trade. They don't lose out on talent or players; they're trading 2 good players for 2 good players. It's just a big change of positions.

Why would the Sonics do this?
The Sonics have talked about getting their PG and PF spot filled for a while now, and nothing seemed to be working. In Juwan Howard, they get a true power forward that is perfectly cut to play the position - better than Radmanovic is. You can look at Gordon Giricek being a shorter version of Radmanovic, but he can play both SG and SF positions and is a pretty good player, so the Sonics could use him off their bench very nicely. Since Radmanovic is playing the same position as Rashard Lewis, and Jerome James is just one-out-of-many in Seattle, they only trade good players out of logjam positions to fill an open gap (PF) in their rotation. Just as for the Magic, this trade gives them a more usual NBA rotation. The only reason I can think of why the Sonics wouldn't want to make this trade is to mess up the very nice chemistry they have going on right now, but is that really going to last all season? Maybe after december 15th they're more than willing to make this trade?

I think this trade is fair for both teams, and after the trade the teams rotation for both teams looks much better than before it. Tell me what you think.

Here's another possible deal. I don't think that Cleveland would do it though.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Juwan Howard, Pat Garrity, 2nd rounder for Chris Mihm and Ricky Davis.

can mix things up if u add giricek from us and maybe ollie or wagner or smoething from them.</div>

We don't want Howard, we are very happy with Carlos Boozer.

Cavs Magic deal, I don't know if I see anything that could be done, both are in hurt for a vet leader to calm these teams down a bit.

i must admit, the assistant is a nice guy, but i would prefer a big name coach
like isiaih taking over the magic. they are taking their time to announce a new
coach, which is sensible. they will announce a new coach next summer, unless
johnny davis does a superb job and does turn it around.

we have just picked up rod strickland this morning though, which gives our
backcourt a huge boost. it means lue can come off the bench now, instead or
relying on him for the whole game.

i reckon there will be a huge trade before the all-star game that will
completely transform the magic. i wouldn't be suprised if Juwan Howard was
gone. There is talk of a T-Mac and Kobe straight trade, which may help both
teams. Kobe would be a straight replacement for mcgrady, but t-macs unselfish
attitude will coexist perfectly with shaq. whereas kobe is more interested in
leading the team. tracy would be just happy to win a championship and play with
someone as dominating as shaq !!

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting allnet:</div><div class="quote_post">
I agree about him being traded for a possible point guard or center. How about

    Brent Barry
    Jerome James
    Reggie Evans

    For

    Juwan Howard
    Andrew DeClercq
    Tyronn Lue

Lue,Howard and Evans can't be traded til december the 15th and the trade doesn't work under the cap rules.Although this is just an idea something can be added. This could actually help both teams.Magic need a good steady player at point guard while gaining a center in James...and a banger inside who will get you rebounds off the bench in Reggie Evans.

While the Sonics would get a power forward to help upfront which is what they miss right now. They won't miss Barry too much with Ronald Murray playing so well and the soon to be returning Ray Allen. They would have extra options at that spot.</div>

Looks good to me. Anything to get rid of Declerq and Howard. James could be the shot blocker that we need. I really like Barry. Reggie Evans would be a nice bench player. That would give Drew Gooden the PF spot for sure. I don't know if the Sonics would do it though.

I like this trade for both teams given the existing circumstances.

    Cleveland trades:

    C Chris Mihm (8.4 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 17.4 minutes)
SF Ricky Davis (15.3 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 4.9 apg in 36.1 minutes)

    Cleveland receives:

PF Juwan Howard (13.8 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.9 apg in 33.5 minutes)
SG Gordan Giricek (10.4 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.8 apg in 28.4 minutes)
SG Reece Gaines (0.8 ppg, 0.9 rpg, 1.1 apg in 9.4 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +1.3 ppg, -0.9 rpg, and -0.5 apg.

    Orlando trades:

PF Juwan Howard (13.8 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.9 apg in 33.5 minutes)
SG Gordan Giricek (10.4 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.8 apg in 28.4 minutes)
SG Reece Gaines (0.8 ppg, 0.9 rpg, 1.1 apg in 9.4 minutes)

    Orlando receives:

    C Chris Mihm (8.4 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 13 games)
SF Ricky Davis (15.3 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 4.9 apg in 14 games)
Change in team outlook: -1.3 ppg, +0.9 rpg, and +0.5 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

You have been assigned Trade ID number 1308973

    Cleveland

The Cavs add a veteran power forward who can score in Juwan Howard. He will share time with Carlos Boozer, mostly, although he and Boozer could play together in certain situations.

The Cavs also land two promising backcourt players in Gordon Giricek and Orlando first round pick, Reece Gaines. Giricek could be used at small forward also in certain situations.

    Orlando

Orlando adds a badly needed young center in Chris Mihm and a second scorer in Ricky Davis.

Yes, the Magic give up some good young talent and a good player in Juwan Howard, but a starting lineup of Lue, McGrady, Ricky Davis, Drew Gooden and Chris Mihm seems like a huge upgrade to me and well worth the price.</div>

I think I would do this deal and the Cavs do get a lot for someone who is benched.

I don't think the Sonics trade Radmanovic or Bones. Radmanovic is just starting to break out and is seen as one of the future cornerstones, and Bones is the glue of this team, I don't think either would be traded effectively to get a past it PF like Howard, especially with Collison to come back.

    Magic trade: Gordan Giricek
    Magic get: Caron Butler

    Miami trades: Caron Butler
    Miami gets: Gordan Giricek

Miami has no place for Caron Butler because they have Eddie Jones at SG and Lamar Odom at SF, and they make too much money to sit on the bench. and I dont think Caron Butler is gonna like coming off the bench, so he will have a starting spot in Orlando, and the heat get a good 6th man in Gordan Giricek who will be happy coming off the bench.

I'd do it in a heartbeat. Caron Butler is like Gooden, both 2 year guys who had great rookie years, but are struggling 2nd year. I think Butler could be a great player in the future.(just like Gooden) He would give us some more scoring help for Tmac and Giricek is just way too inconsistent. (Read my post about what Giricek will show up, I will post that next.)

I would personally like to see Drew Gooden traded. Yes he does put up good numbers from the bench, but I just dont like the way he plays. Too selfish down low. I think we could make a good deal out of him.

Then once we deal him, he will turn into an all-star in the place where he gets traded too. That's what always happens.

    Lol.
But the thing is, if he's not going to turn into an all-star at Orlando, why keep him.

He'll develop into an all-star in Orlando. Just give him time. Unless we can get someone good for him, then we should just keep him.
