Carmelos Stats 2003-04 Statistics PPG 16.7 RPG 7.0 APG 2.5 SPG 1.00 BPG .45 FG% .339 FT% .729 3P% .324 MPG 34.3 Lebrons Stats 2003-04 Statistics PPG 17.5 RPG 6.5 APG 6.7 SPG 1.33 BPG .83 FG% .444 FT% .620 3P% .355 MPG 40.8 This is a tough question- whos better?? the stats favor lebron a little bit but lebron also averages six minutes more a game so its tough to tell. But lebron gets all the hype to be rookie of the year so who else has a chance really. Carmelo is the only other one but lebron seems the favorite. But as i watch lebron and then watch carmelo, lebrons game looks so much sweeter in my opinion with his passes and court prescence on offense and defense, but lebron needs to work on his jumpshot. Carmelo though can shoot, defend and play in the post. Their roles are different on their teams so it will be interesting how this plays out throughout the year. What do you think???
It is very close and so far Lebron has put up some crazy numbers for a guy straight out of high school. He has improved his team-mates and got them to take teams close when last year wouldn't of happened.Melo has gotten the Nuggets wins and impressive wins as well.Beating Spurs and Kings isn't an easy thing to do...Having signed two good players in Andre Miller and Earl Boykins has clearly helped them get the wins it hasn't just been Melo This battle will go on for many years....however right now I would give Lebron the edge and ROY...
LeBron needs work on his shot and Carmelo can shoot.. And you posted the stats, try reading them before you put your thoughts together. Personally, I am sick of these "who is better than who" threads, why must we waste time debating who is better? Leave these kids alone and let them play ball.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting King James:</div><div class="quote_post"> Leave these kids alone and let them play ball.</div>Why? Are these discussions on JBB affecting the way they play? These guys are in the spotlight, making millions, I think they can handle this.

But I awknowledge the fact that Carmello's point is to be a scorer, which explains that stat. In response to the second comment, I agree. Nobody's mind has ever been changed concerning the ability of two players, through a message board. But I will say this: Lebron and Carmello play completely different games. Lebron is supposed to get teammates involved. Lebron's job is to put up stats in diverse categories. Carmello's is a scoring force. That doesn't mean that he could get boards and assists if he wanted to, but it isn't his role on the team. Sometimes we forget that the franchise players have roles as well. Not only do these two play completely different games, but as KJ said it is too early to be discussing this.
So Bron is outscoring Melo, and dishing out more assists, shooting better, his impact on the Cavs is much larger than Melo's for the Nuggets. Boykins is the man who has the rock when the game is tight and on the line.
Bron isnt even CLOSE to better. His GOD AWFUL defense & league leading turnover rate is one of the Key reasons the Cavs are 4-13. Meanwhile Carmelo is putting up the SAME numbers albeit with 1/10th of the hype & also plays MUCH tighter defense w/ a firm grasp of fundamentals unlike Lebron.
