Carter's comments on MsGrady http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentSe...ol=970081562040 <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">" Last night, if we win that game, we're in fourth place," Carter said, when asked if he was concerned about statistics. "That's what I worry about. The scoring average and stuff? Yeah, I know it looks good to the fans, the younger kids and even you guys as media, but you know, if it doesn't get the job done it doesn't get the job done." It's a lesson McGrady is learning, one reporter suggested. Sure, Carter agreed. And then the Raptors' all-star was asked if he ever thought about what it might be like had McGrady stayed in Toronto instead of signing with Orlando in 2000. "Sometimes," Carter said. "And I think he thinks about it, too. It's normal. You're supposed to. And, oh well. But that's one thing I never want him to do is second-guess himself. I think he made the decision that was the best for him. "And yeah, you always think about what could have (been) but he's had three great years there and he got what he wanted ? he got to go out and lead his team night in and night out," Carter said, then paused and added, "which he could have done here, believe it or not." When the discussion turned to comments McGrady made earlier this month about possibly retiring, Carter didn't dismiss them out of hand, saying his distant cousin has talked about giving up basketball in the past. "He's said that before," Carter said. "I don't know. Tracy would do something like that." Carter thinks the Magic guard, who led the league in scoring last season, won't give the game up to retire and play golf. "He'd probably play baseball. He's got a hell of an arm," Carter said.</div> He's right ..
Yea, Tracy is too young and too damn good to retire. He'll eventually start finding his shot and than the zone won't do much good.
well there are reasons why certain players want to retire even at their peak...MJ did it to play baseball...Is TMac serious about giving up basketball? we'll know soon enough...
i dont get this? there was zone defence last year, and mcgrady managed to lead the league, dominate at times, be considered for MVP, and be no.1 on some peoles list for best players in the nba... looks to me, hes just bitching out a lame excuse for being in a bit of a slump. someone tell t-mac to man up...im losing respect for him daily
McGrady just showed us he still has a lot of growing up to do. The Grant Hill situation is still dooming this team.
McGrady talks to much...he needs to be knocked out on the court by someone (ala Bobby Jackson) or when he makes one of his arrogant "guaranteed predictions" he should be laughed at for not fulllfilling them....he talks too much ishhh, hes too arrogant and now that hes losing so much, he cant handle and starts crying like a wimp people call VC soft....The raps lost 14 games in a row after the all star break...this guy lost 12 and hes bawling like a baby Tmac...he needs to grow up
You know, I'm trying to figure out ways to agree with that statement, but, I can't. For one, there is reason he's arrogant. Look at his stats over the last few years and that'll tell ya why. And actually, he never made a guarantee, he simply stated that it felt good to be outta the first round. Now, whether it was cockiness or whether it was the fact that he actually neglected the thought that it was a 7 game series, I dunno. And uh, he's really not cryin like a baby, it's more along the lines of finding every excuse he can for his team in general sucking. It's not all his fault his team is losing, I hope you realize this. He needs to get some support, and that's what he's not getting. This is where the Mike Miller trade from last year comes and bites you in the butt.
its more then that Detriot mishap.. the whole Baron davis thing was stupid as hell and then the nba 2ball thing a couple years ago "I guarantee victory" and he loses in the first round so....if stats was the reason for his arrogance...that means AI, KG, TD could boast more then t-mac but they choose not to cause they are smart, it might blow up in there faces and they know that despite having his own comments blow up on his face plenty of times...he refuses to shut up and fails to realize that losing is part of the game...especially with a crappy ass team like his and just for the record...im not a mCgrady hater...I love his game....but I find him annoying as a person and this year especially, he needs to just stop complaining and play on...there' not gonna lose like 60 games in a row...itll come to a stop sometime

"look at his stats and thatll tell ya why hes arrogant" give me a break...look at tim duncans stats...you dont see him all arogant and cocky. stats are hardly a reason to have a shitty attitude about the game, and t-mac has just that, a real bad attitude obviously he knew it was a 7 game series...he was being cocky and arrogant again talkin bout being out of the first round...and that bit him in the ass the miller trade certainly didnt bite them in the ass. ill take drew and giricek over miller ANY day, and i think anyone would agree. it was a GREAT score for the magic simple fact is....t-mac isnt steppin up and leading his team to victories, all hes doing is complaining and talkin non-sence like retiring.
Tmac's playing well enough to win a lot of the games. His teammates just aren't stepping up. Seriously, Tmac gets double or tripled teamed and no way is he gonna shoot over a triple team, so he dishes it to his guys and they brick it. The others teams know they can triple team Tmac because his teammates suck and won't make the basket. The Mike Miller trade won't "bite them in the butt". Gooden and Giricek give more to the team than Miller ever did. The thing that killed us was losing Darell Armstrong, he willed us to a lot of wins down the stretch.
Well, the reason I said the Miller trade hurt them is cause Miller was the one player on that team McGrady was able to trust. Those 2 played extremely well together. And, it also gave them another outside shooting threat. That's why. But, overall, the trade will eventually work, at least when Giricek starts playing a little better. Gooden hasn't been too bad. But, Miller really gave them an outside shooting threat. Cause, outside of Tracy, who on that team is gonna hit a jumper consistently? I can think of Tyronn Lue and that's all. And yes, losing Armstrong wasn't good for them either.
yall need to back up off t-mac.its not his fault that the magic r losin so much.its not t-macs record its the teams record which means everybody is responsbible for winning and losing.as far as him bein arogant, hes allowed to be.he made it to the pros unlike u.don't compare him to others by sayin well so-and-so doesnt act as arogant but still puts up great stats, its there choice mab thats jus how t-mac is.wen he said he's thinkin bout retirement, that cud of jus been a wake up call to the gm to help out t-mac by gettin a betta team or the magic will lose McGrady. reply to that! <font color="Blue">PuRePOiNtG , when you post can you please use correct grammar. A lot of your words are hard to understand. Thanks a lot - dexter</font>
True. Welcome, I see you are a Magic fan, post on the Magic board purepoint. That's exactly what I was trying to say that Tmac needs help badly. He isn't doing bad at all, don't blame everything on him. I am probably a broken record, but he needs to shoot MORE. He needs to get less arrogant though. I know that's the way he is, but he needs to change.
