He was a member of the 1996 gold-medal-winning Olympic team. What he was known for primarily during his 14-year career, however, was carrying the Kings franchise during its most lean seasons. And on Dec. 5, Richmond's tireless efforts and prolific accomplishments will be recognized by the Kings. The ceremony on "Mitch Richmond Day" will be conducted during halftime of the nationally televised Kings-Minnesota Timberwolves game.</div> One of the classiest guys in the league when he played, nice to see him get a ring at the end of it. Very well deserved.
He was such a great shooter.... Man, it was painful to watch him as a laker (as it now painful to watch glen rice with the clippers). Richmond's shot was never quite the same after he got traded from Sac.
I don't know if Mitch Richmond is the type of player you would equate with getting his jersey retired but that being said he really did have a near great career and does deserve the honor for his hoops skills and overall character.

Mitch carried that franchise for a good 6 or 7 years, was one of the league's great scorers and defined the term 'Franchise Player' to a T. In fact I remember MJ saying Mitch was the guy he always found toughest to play against cos he played both ends hard and fair.
I heard this on the radio yesterday. He was a great player for the Kings, it was just too bad that it didn't bring much victory. Like Sir Desmond said, you can never go wrong with someone who MJ was the toughest opponent.
