    Notes
The Cavs will be without starting power forward Carlos Boozer, who is still nursing a sprained right ankle. The team will also be without reserve guard Ira Newble, who is serving a 1 game suspension for conduct detrimental to team. Ricky Davis will probably come off the pine in this game, just my guess as Paul Silas allowed him to make the trip to New Orleans after missing a practice.

    Keys To The Game

Cleveland - Contain Baron Davis, double team, and get the ball out of his hands. Don't allow David Wesley to sit out there and take open 3 point shots. Feed the ball to Ilgauskas all night, he must be the focal point of the offense tonight as the Cavs have a lot of turmoil going on and are short handed.

New Orleans - Double Ilgauskas and make him make the correct pass out of the double team. I would zone it up and force them Cavs to take jump shots. Attack the basket, simple as that, without Carlos Boozer the Cavs front line has been very thin, take advantage of it.

    The King's Take

This game could be ugly, for the Cavs that is. How will the Cavs react after all this mess that has been going on this week? How many minutes will Ricky Davis play? How do you stop Baron Davis, who right now is the early season favorite to win the MVP.

Too many questions for the Cavs, so Hornets in a blowout.

I can't see the Cavs getting up in this one. I can't see them stopping Baron Davis either - that's no knock on Cleveland's defense, that's just a testament to how well Diddy's playing at the moment. Focus too much on him and Wesley and Magloire, who are both hot too, will kill you. Just a bit too much for the Cavs to do in this one methinks.

    Updated the starting lineups.

Chris Mihm did not start due to back spasms, but is playing now.

    Cavs up 23/22 after one.

Is LeBron matched up with Baron Davis in this game?

This is going to be a tough game for the Cavs to win. Silas returns against his former team, so emotions will be running high. I'm not sure the Cavs have enough firepower to hang with the Hornets for all 4 quarters without Ricky Davis in the lineup. The bench has been inconsistent and the Cavs have not run the offense through Big Z like they should be. If LeBron is guarding B. Diddy, he's going to have a lot of responsibility on the court. Guarding the best player and also being the playmaker on offense, I don't see him capable of doing it all against a team like the Hornets.

Hornets up 42/36 at the half.

No minutes for Ricky Davis yet.

    Baron has 12, 2, and 5
    Bron has 4, 7, and 6

Yes they have guarded one another.

Not bad numbers for Bron so far but the most important number (and the only one that counts in the end) is that they're down right now. LeBron's great, the Cav's are not.

Cavs down 8 with 6 minutes left in the game, this has been ugly for both teams shooting the rock.

    Both teams shot under 40%

Cavs 12/22 at the line, 4/17 from deep, that costs the Cavs big time.

Full story and box score coming soon.

Lebron was just short of triple double, Baron Davis is continuing some great play. Hornets need to keep winning against "easier" teams with lower records than them. With just 4 losses, losses to the Bulls at home and Heat away do not look good.

The Cavs kept this game somewhat close...I guess that is something they can take from this game. Lebron continues to thrill though.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Even on an off-shooting night, the New Orleans Hornets had little trouble with a Cleveland Cavaliers' team that was missing two of its top scorers.

New Orleans shot only 38.8 percent, but Baron Davis scored 26 points and David Wesley had 21 against former coach Paul Silas in the Hornets' 82-72 victory Wednesday night.

The Cavs played without Ricky Davis, who was benched, and Carlos Boozer, who has a sprained right ankle.

"We just didn't have enough firepower in there ... but it's not bad to make this kind of showing without those two guys," Silas said. "When they come back, we'll be a better ball club."

The Hornets, coming off a loss a night earlier in Miami, held a double-digit lead most of the second half despite stints of sloppy play and 16 turnovers.

"I thought it was ugly," Baron Davis said. "We were fatigued a bit at the end. That's what usually happens in back-to-back (games). The mental focus was difficult to maintain at times."

Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting to lead Cleveland, losers of 30 straight road games dating to last season. LeBron James struggled for his 15 points, but did have nine assists and eight rebounds.

James dunked on a fast break early in the game for his first points but didn't hit an outside shot until the 4:38 mark of the third quarter. He was 5-of-17 from the field, with two of his baskets coming in the final minutes.

"I didn't shoot well but I think I contributed in other ways," James said. "I just didn't concentrate."

James was guarded by Baron Davis, an aggressive defender and one of the league leaders in steals with 46. Davis only had one steal on James, but it allowed Davis to dribble in alone for an emphatic one-handed dunk.

Silas called Davis, now in his fifth season, "the best point-guard in basketball right now."

"He's got total command of his game," Silas said of the player he coached the previous four seasons. "It took him some time, but he's got it."

Cleveland's Jason Kapono had 14 points, including three 3-pointers, one at the first-quarter buzzer that gave the Cavs an early 23-22 lead.

Silas benched Ricky Davis despite inviting him to join the team in New Orleans. Silas had kept Davis out of practice earlier in the week for unspecified "issues" and initially said Davis would not make the trip to New Orleans.

Without him and Boozer, Cleveland shot 33.7 percent.

"Cleveland still is not a good team," Wesley said. "They really don't have a whole lot of shooters. We basically tried to crowd the middle, make them kick to their shooters and see if they would make" their shots.

The Cavs also were without Ira Newble, who was suspended by the team for one game because of an argument he had with Silas after the Cavs' loss in Atlanta last Saturday.

Sad game. I didn't expect Cleveland to win against this new great New Orleans team, but I believed they had a chance. Am I wrong, but has LeBron's shooting going down terribly? I know his passing is still great, but it seems like he is having rough nights shooting?

I dont know, since I dont live near Cleveland and dont have NBA League Pass, so I cant see LeBron play.

Shooting .415% from the field, it has dipped big time, but then again, he is 18 years old, lol.

Melo is shooting just .367% from the field.

The price to pay for being young.

LeBron> Not bad for a rook. He is really livin' it up in the NBA and showing those LeBron haters to quit haten.

Carmelo> Chill out, hes jealous of LeBron and is trying to hard with a fg avg like that.

I think that holds a little truth, Melo has been in his shadow since the famous workout they had as high schoolers. After all, they did go into that workout talking Melo, they left talking Bron.

There is not question to me that Melo is using in some way this attention that Bron has been getting to motivate himself a little bit.

Bird and Magic did that with one another every game, every practice.

I am still not comparing this rivalry to this one, but I am sure you got the point.

Melo is averaging 17 and 7 while leading his team to a 8-6 record in the tough west.No way, shape or form is Melo jealous of Lebron. He might of been on draft night..but at this stage...no.
