PHOENIX (AP) -- Dirk Nowitzki, the Dallas Mavericks' leading scorer, sprained his right ankle during the first quarter Wednesday night against the Phoenix Suns.

He did not play the remainder of the first half.

Nowitzki, averaging 20.6 points, was injured with 4:45 remaining in the period when he was called for an offensive foul while charging toward the Mavericks' basket. He rolled onto the floor and had to be helped off the court."

Someone get Dirk some old school hightops. This happens too often.
