I think that this helped both teams. The mavs got what they wanted and the Warriors recooped for losing Arenas. I think it will be good for Van Exel because he will be starting now and he will be a star along wit JRich. Nick was scoring like 20 pts for the Mavs comin off the bench!
above ^i didnt say he averaged 20 pts. I just said that he came up big in a lot of big games and he got 20 pts in a lot of those games. he didnt average 20 pts off the bench. That would be insane! maybe now he will tho on GS. I still dont kno why he didnt get 6th man award
I liked NVE alot. I hope he does well in GS. I am pretty sure he will. Although, I am not so sure the team will.
from insider <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Mavs-Warriors deal can't be officially approved until this afternoon. Once word leaked out late Friday that the two teams had struck a deal, numerous teams started working the phones in an attempt to either derail it or get in on the action. Several league sources told Insider there's a chance that by the end of the day, this could expand to a three- or four-team deal. The Warriors also have been shopping Bobby Sura and Erick Dampier and really have no use for Avery Johnson. Sura and Johnson both have expiring contracts, and Dampier is coveted by several teams, like Memphis, still looking for a big man.</div> They said 20 other teams were calling the mavs over the weekend trying to get into the deal..you can bet you life joe D was one of them...lets wait and see what happens...
What I can see happening is a Wesley Person for Eric Dampier trade as well. Memphis does need a center. Dampier would fill that need. GS gets yet another expiring salary. It would be a smart move on both teams. Another possibility, should that not occur, is Brevin Knight for Jerome James(Seattle). Joe D does want Jamison, but what can he offer GS? Robinson would have to be included to match salaries. But would you rather have NVE or Robinson? Detroit does have the expiring contracts to take on Fortson and Jamison(and Det. would have to take on both.......GS traded Welsch and Jamison to unload Fortson.........it was an incentive for Dallas to do so). But NVE is a good PG with a short contract. Something that fills GS needs. I dont think Detroit will get in on this deal.
Trade is now offical..there is no 3 way trade... http://www.nba.com/mavericks/news/trade_030818.html <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have completed a nine-player trade with the Golden State Warriors. The Mavericks have traded Nick Van Exel, Avery Johnson, Evan Eschmeyer, Popeye Jones and Antoine Rigaudeau in exchange for Golden State's Antawn Jamison, Danny Fortson, Jiri Welsch and Chris Mills. </div>
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dj_premium_plus:</div><div class="quote_post">well hes certainly nothing to sneeze at either: 7.0rpg 1.9apg 22.2ppg (13th) not to mention he didnt miss a single game all year.</div> Well yea he's a good scorer and everything but the only reason why he plays two positions is because of his defense. He can guard fours and he can guard threes because he isn't physically capable to do so. Offensively he is fine, somewhat. I'm going to miss him in GS though because he seemed so dedicated to helping the franchise. When he signed the contract he said he signed because he wanted to be in GS when they started winning and he wanted to be a part of the building process that would make the Warriors win.
Dallas really jipped the Golden State in my opion! Why would they trade an allstar Sf for a PG/SG when they have many in each of those positions?
Antawn has never been to an All Star game. Nick is still explosive and still can deliver. I do agree with you that Dallas got the better end of this deal, though.
