    Central div.

The NBA east isn't so bad....

    In the central:

    1) indiana 14-2
    2) detroit 12-6
    3) new orleans 11-6

although the Atlantic is letting the side down.

    1) Philadelphia 9-9
    2)New Jersey 7-8
    3)Boston 7-9
    7)Orlando 1-15!

    Average Eastern pct .437
    Average Western pct .567

I suppose the West still are way ahead of the majority of the East, but the top half of the central division is looking very strong so far.

Yea, that division is playing very good. But, one thing to note, the Eastern Conference is always weaker. The East plays essentially a much easier schedule compared to the West. Cause, out West, you have powers like the Lakers, Kings, Mavs, and the Spurs. Though, the Spurs are 5-10, they will eventually turn around. Plus, out west, the Nuggets are playing exceptional basketball, the Lakers look very good. Speaking of the Lakers, we'll see what the Pacers are made of when they get a real test tonight against the Lakers. That should be a very, very good game.

the east isn't even close to the west, there arent any powerhouse teams, and yeah i agree that the west has a tougher schedule. There is a 99.9% chance that the NBA champs will come out of the west this year.

Well, last year, everyone I think counted out the Nets. And, look what they did. Came within a hair of winning the title. If it wasn't for a monumental 4th quarter breakdown, what's saying that they wouldn't have?

Nets got a few games on pure heart but honestly they never looked like winning it all.

I have to agree with Russ Granik on this one, that things will 'even back out.' I'm from the East, and so i just took for granted the nineties, when everything was backward. The east simply dominated the west, from the Bad Boy Pistons early, to the Bulls all throughout. In 1997 there were like six teams in the East with over 50 wins, much of which came at the expense of the western conference teams. I think that since there are more fans and people overall in the east, now that the east keeps losing to the west it is more noticeable than in the nineties, when the only question in the west was who would be the token offering to the big bad Bulls(sounds very familiar).

Yes, the East isn't that bad. But it is bad, compared to the west. The champion is going to come out of the west. But in five years, everything will be very different, with many of the lottery picks of the past few years(and next few years) having matured and the west players who are in their prime now over the hill then. So until then, good luck East. They're gonna need it.

The Raptors are now 10-8 so the central is getting a little bit stronger.

Record has nothing to do with it...you see the Spurs with a worse record than the Raptors...but if they played each other, the rap's would most likely get their ass whooped....it all depends who you play and who you beat...your record is not the biggest indicator of how strong a team or conference is

Last yr my Pacers had one of the best starts in their history but then went West and things went downhill (along with the injuries to key players)...we lost quite a few to the West...even to teams that had worse records than us, but were still considered better than most of the Eastern teams

If we want a recap, we will visit the Raptor forum.

The Pacers are a team I feel can beat anybody on any given night if this team can get healthy and play together.

Pacers are an excellent team. I think the only teams playing better overall ball then them right now are the Lakers, whom I think are playing the best ball in all of the NBA, and the Kings.

It's all relative. Because the East compared to the West is not strong at all. But in the East teams compete. It's interesting from the if you live back there. But when you live in Cali and get to see Sac and LA battle it out, those games look a little petty.

So far none of the East teams have shown that they can hang this season with the West. They've stolen a few games but by and large the East has lost a lot of it's games to the West.

Pacers have now done the double over the Sonics, we've knocked off Minny (who beat Sacramento) and we've defeated likely playoff teams Denver and Phoenix...although we did cop a hiding off the Lakers....

...we've got a tough test coming up with our old friend Brad Miller and the Kings
