Who is the "go-to-guy"? The Warriors have many players that are not afraid to take the last shot of a game. First we have Mike Dunleavy Jr. He has proved that he can hit big shots for the Warriors but has been inconsistent at times. He is still a young player learning his strengths and weaknesses. Overtime, he may be the guy the Warriors choose to take the clutch shot. Calbert Cheany. He has been huge for the Warriors this early season, especially with his brilliant play when Richardson was serving his 3 game suspension. He is one of the best mid-range shooters in the game. He has put some games away this season with his clutch shooting. Then there is Jason Richardson and Nick Van Exel. In my opinion, the ball has to go to one of these guys in the closing seconds of a tight ball game. I would want NVE taking the last shot and last night is a prime example of why. This guy has proved to be a clutch player in the playoffs in his career. Jason Richardson, on the other hand, is one of the most explosive players in the NBA and can create his own shot. Comments?
I think it really all depends what kind of situation. Though Dunleavy have been inconsistent at times, I feel confident that if you gave him a wide open shot to win the game, he would knock it down. Cheaney is nice but I wouldn't go to him to win the game. If the ball was going to be in bounded into someone, I would have to go to J-Rich. Like you said, he can create his own shot well and get to the hoop. Also, like you said last night, if Van Exel had the ball in that kind of a situation, you bet he's the go to guy. Off the screen, pull up, hits it.
I guess you can say its a nice dilema for the Warriors to be in. The opponet can't key in on one specific player. If they do, they will get burned by another.
It goes to Van all day. He's the wiley veteran and is clutch. He's proven he can hit the big shot in times past. His last second shots seem to gravitate to the metal of the hoop and go through. I take him all day. You would like for it to be J-Rich because he's explosive but I don't think it is his time. His game is to the hoop and not all shots require a strong drive. He's got game, I just think he's all-around like he will be in the future. I think Van was brought in for a little grooming and then all the shots will belong for him. til then...........
I wouldn't trust dunleavy with the ball in his hands with the last shot because he's not proven he can score even when he's wide open. Van excel on the other hand is just amazing he'll more than likely score from the half court line with 5 people in his face and make it if its the last shot to try to win or tie the game. Jrich could probably take the last shot but I don't remember him especially being clutch and plus if he got a good look he'd immediately be fouled because he can't really shoot free throws consistently. I'd probably give the ball to Cliff or Cheaney if one or the other was hot or tell Cardinal to shoot it.
Well definitely Van Exel and J-Rich. No Speedy Claxton? His perimeter shooting is amazing! However Van Exel might pull Glen Rice's sometimes and shoot shots he can't afford to take or can't make. He's got an incredible mind for the shot so he'll probably make it anyway.
In my opinion it would have to be Van Exel, you get this guy hot, he will torch you all day long. And he is very clutch, he is one of the top guys in the league I would want taking the last shot in the game.

i'm going with van exel...normally i would say it depends on the matchups, but muss put the ball in van exel's hands last night against christie and he pulled it off.
Nick the Quick is perhaps among the top ten clutch players in the game today, depending on who you talk to. Having him on your team, even off the bench like the Mavs last year, is a huge boon. I'd give it to him instead of trusting a young player who might not be able to handle the pressure(I bet Del Harris would agree with me now). But yeah, J-Rich and Mike are definitely the future for the game overall and for closing minutes/seconds for the Warriors. Who's first and who's second depends on how they play over the next couple years.
I would have to go with Nick, he can definitely get the job done when it counts, unlike Kirk Hinrich's performance tonight .

I agree, NVE, even though he takes shots that looks like he shouldn't he'll prolly make it. He's smart and accurate and knows what he's doing.
NVE is a very good veteran player, but he is also a very streaky shooter. If he is on he'll light it up, if not he'll clank them off the rim all night. I saw J-Rich play last night, he kept the Warriors in the game, but he didn't get many touches during crunch time. I think J-Rich should be the go to guy, with NVE a close second.
