<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">ORLANDO, Fla. -- New Orleans Hornets guard Darrell Armstrong's attorney admitted Monday that his client struck a bike officer who tried to escort him off the street in front of a night club, but said it was an accident.

Armstrong, unsure who had touched him, reacted by swinging his left arm back, knocking Officer Teresa Joyce momentarily off balance, attorney Zachary Stoumbos said during opening statements of Armstrong's battery trial.

"It was a startled response when you're unexpectedly touched," Stoumbos said.

But Joyce testified Monday that Armstrong "reacted very violently" when she tried to remove him from the street outside The Club at Firestone early July 7.

Armstrong, who played nine seasons with the Orlando Magic before signing with the Hornets over the offseason, is charged with felony battery on an officer and misdemeanor resisting arrest without violence. The felony carries a maximum sentence of five years prison if he is convicted during the two-day trial.</div>

I agree. Some of the players in the L today think they can just get away with anything.
