<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> The Bulls have discussed trading second-year guard Roger Mason Jr. to Toronto for Rick Brunson, according to league sources. Management's desire to play Jamal Crawford more at shooting guard dictates the need for a veteran backup to rookie Kirk Hinrich at the point, and new coach Scott Skiles is said to be high on Brunson. The seven-year veteran played for the Bulls last season, averaging 3.5 points and 2.1 assists in 17 games. He also impressed management with his work ethic and professionalism and was a strong positive influence on Crawford. Brunson was included in the recent trade talks between the teams but is ineligible to be traded until Dec. 15 because of when he signed his one-year minimum deal with Toronto. … The Bulls didn't want to part with second-year forward Lonny Baxter, who showed promise as a solid reserve. But the Bulls still own the rights to second-round pick Mario Austin, currently playing for CSKA in Russia. … </div> http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines Makes sense to me. Brunson is reliable and did well for us.
The reason behind the rumored trade is because Crawford figures to get more PT at the 2. That would make Hinrich the 1, so in essence, both will get PT together(even though Hinrich will come off the bench, Gill will start, Crawford at the 2). Doing this means that there is no veteran PG to back them up. Enter Brunson. Doing this trade allows Crawford to play with Hinrich at the same time.
