I just saw this on ESPN. Dennis the menace wants to go back to the NBA and he looks desperate. He wants to get back to the public eye, he's like 42 and wants to come back! :thumbsdow . He said he used to party but in the last 2 months he's been working out and has 10% body fat. Rodman=Trouble. He's doing this for publicity! OK he was a great rebounder but he obviously lost his hops at 42.
I also heard about this when he was on Leno. If a team wants to take a chance with him, I say go for it. He would have to prove himself worthy first.
This was some of the most sad material on Rodman in long time. This guy has completely self-destructed. He has no more game left. He's doesn't have the desire needed to be a champion. His age has half to do with it and his over the top partying is the other that pushes everyone away from him. If it was the camera he wanted, then it was the camera he got. And to be honest, I think he is a attention addict. All stars are. Sadly, his days and shine have waned.
Rodman is a little too old now. He's like 42. What he needs to do is focus on getting his life back together. Getting DUI after DUI isn't acceptable...
I would tell you, if I saw that Dennis was back in shape and worked his tail off to do it, I would definatley take a shot at him. He would still probably out rebound most people in the league and could really help a team.
If I'm an owner I would ask for a workout, why not, lets see if he is for real. I could use the ticket sales. Rodman fan for life.
Whether he has to be in the spotlight or if he is broke again, I'm not sure the exposure is worth the risk. Will he REALLY bring in more fans? If the people aint coming to see AI, TMac, TD, KG, Kidd, Shaq, Vince, Baron, Bron and the other stars of the games, Rodman aint gonna put them in the seats. He will be a short lived "experiment". Besides, will he be an effective rebounder because of age and other phsysical factors? I would rather remember the "Detroit Pistons Rodman" than the "LA Clippers Rodman".
I'd take him on my team anytime, let him prove what he still can do... a big part of his game was motivation, his desire for the ball, his ability to get into someones head on defense... if he still can bring that to the court.. he'll be a valuable backup on any sub .500 team trying to make the playoffs...
I would certainly watch Rodman. That's why if I am an owner or Gm, I would give him a chance. I would be mega intrested in seeing how he would preform again. I am also a big Rodman fan for some reason.
I've always liked Rodman. And who says he doesn't have the championship mentallity? He comes from the Bulls... He's going to have a time of it, keeping up with all the younger palyers, but when has he ever been known for his athletic ability? He's knows how to grab the board and throw some elbows. Let's not forget, make a spectical of himself and that brings fans. Ergo, sells tickets. Heck, I'd watch him.

Oh man, if Rodman was really in shape, I don't see why he couldn't average double digit rebounds if he gets the minutes. Remember, he won his last rebound crown when he was like 36, 37, so he wasn't really young then, but he still didn't just win the crown, he dominated it, by like 2 or 3 boards. Rodman was never about soaring above the crowd or throwing people out of the way, he position rebounded, picked his spots, and hustled. If he's willing to do that today, he'll easily be one of the top 10-15 rebounders in the league. I think any team with a rebounding problem(cough cough, nets, sonics, raptors, cough, philly, griz, suns) should be willing to give him a try. Of course, Rodman might just be trying to get in the spotlight. But its not like Stanley Roberts or Roy Tarpley coming back, has beens who never really were. Rodman is a certifiable future HOFer, and one of the best rebounders of all time, definitely the best of the nineties. And he brings the veteran presence of a five time champion and defensive master.
I too saw the program on ESPN about Rodman. 95% of it was showing him partying, in clubs, in stores, signing autographs, etc. There was mabye a maximum of 10 minutes of him actually working out and talking about basketball, the entire program was two hours! He was actually scheduled to have a tryout with the Nuggets, but just as the program was starting to lean more towards his basketball career instead of his personal life, it ended and was "to be continued" next week. Does anyone know how long ago the show was filmed and how his tryouts with the Nuggets went?
