(AP) -- Jamar Smith scored a career-high 25 points, including the go-ahead basket with 56 seconds left, and Maryland outlasted No. 15 Wisconsin 73-67 in overtime Tuesday night. Smith also had 12 rebounds, his fourth double-double in four games. Chris McCray scored a career-high 15 points and John Gilchrist had 12 points and nine assists for the Terrapins (4-0), 92-1 in nonconference home games since Dec. 12, 1989. The game was part of the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. Devin Harris scored 24 points for the Badgers (3-1), who rallied to force overtime but were outscored 12-6 in the extra session. The Badgers led 65-63 in overtime before Gilchrist scored on a drive. After Wisconsin's Mike Wilkinson missed two foul shots, Smith made a layup and D.J. Strawberry followed Harris' miss with a free throw for a 68-65 lead. Smith then added two free throws to seal the victory. A 3-pointer by McCray, his first basket of the second half, put Maryland up 57-50 with three minutes left in regulation. But Harris scored the Badgers' next six points, and after Smith made one of two free throws for a 60-58 lead with 21 seconds to go, Wilkinson hit a 3-pointer to put Wisconsin on top.</div> Link Hasn't this been a great night for college basketball? I spent every moment this evening glued to the t.v. screen. I think that this game was not under control by the reff's. I believe that Carner-Medley's big time block was an obvious goaltending. Oh well, congrats to Maryland who should advance into the top twenty (both polls) and all the best to Wisconsin who should nearly drop out (both polls).
I actually missed this game....I switched off the T.V when the UNC game finished...I have to say the double header was great. Two very good games (Even though the Wake one was a blowout) they were fun to watch.Maryland have an underrated team in my opinion.Should be ranked in the top 20 and soon enough they should.
Go Maryland. I watched some of this game. Part of the 1st half. They looked very good. Smith and McCray are both going to be good players.
