<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Cavaliers center DeSagana Diop, whose improvement has been a pleasant surprise this season, has torn cartilage in his right knee and might need surgery.

Diop sustained the injury in Saturday night's double-overtime loss to Memphis. He had four points and eight rebounds in 24 minutes before getting hurt.

He did not accompany the club on its trip to Denver and Los Angeles, where the Cavaliers will face the Clippers on Wednesday.

An MRI test taken Monday revealed the tear, and Cavs general manager Jim Paxson said Dr. Richard Parker confirmed the results.

"Obviously, this is a big setback for DeSagana, who has been playing the best basketball of his career," Paxson said. "Moving forward, we'll work with DeSagana and our medical staff to determine the best course of repair and act quickly so we can get him back in the lineup as soon as possible."
