<div class="quote_poster">Quoting cross yo ova:</div><div class="quote_post">Exactly^^I hate him,and think that he is selling out for ring which Stocton went home ,no selling out from him..

Selling out is a strong statement but that is what it is ,no matter what anyone says and i dont agree with players doing that.

I mean when/if he gets a ring,it will never be looked on as a proper one</div>

Yea it will, if he plays great, stays healthy and helps the Lakers in key situations, then it is sure as hell a deserved/proper ring. It's not selling out, what is the point of staying with the Jazz? He knows that franchise is going nowhere anytime soon, I can't immagine Malone being stuck in a Jazz uni with no Stockton. So that leaves you with what other choices? Would you go to a bad team, that is re-building? Or would you rather go to a team that has a big chance of winning the championship? I'll take the ring, every great player wants to know what that feels like, it's not selling out. Obviously you are saying these things because you hate him.

Do you even know what the word sellout means? Malone did the exact opposite of that.
How many athletes today are willing to take the huge paycut that he did?

I'm positive if Karl Malone and Gary Payton went to a team other than the Lakers, there wouldn't be a huge argument about these two being labeled as sellouts. But of course, people just find ways on hating the Lakers.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting InNETSweTrust:</div><div class="quote_post">But you have to pay due notice to those who stayed loyal to their teams. I would be hurt if I was a die-hard Jazz fan. Which I'm not. You have to give props to guys like AI who wants to end his career with the franchise he built. Ring or no ring. I'm not saying that taking a huge pay-cut is wrong to get a ring somewhere else. There are just some die-hard fans who felt betrayed.</div>
yeah you are right about that but they should be fan for every player on the team even if they do go to another team. if kobe went to another team i will still show him support and big props to ai but i think that when you get older in the nba and you havent won a ring yet you will eventually want to experience being a champ

On the other side, how many athletes today are willing to stay loyal to its team and fans? Eventhough they know they wouldn't get rings?

If you're superstars like them, it's not about the money. They've earned enough to last them a lifetime. They just choose different roads. To the ring? To team loyalty?

In most cases, a superstar cant stay with their team for their whole career because of the salery cap. Eventually, the team cant afford to keep them and they want to move in a different direction. These days, you will rarely see a player stay with one team for their whole career.

With the way the free agent craze is, you will hardly see a player stay with 1 team.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting lakeshow:</div><div class="quote_post">How the hell are they "buying" rings if they took huge paycuts? God, some people are just dumb</div>
Because they lost money playing for the Lakers...
Are you thinking that a paycut means that they're earning more money or something?
