It's not selling out, what is the point of staying with the Jazz? He knows that franchise is going nowhere anytime soon, I can't immagine Malone being stuck in a Jazz uni with no Stockton. So that leaves you with what other choices? Would you go to a bad team, that is re-building? Or would you rather go to a team that has a big chance of winning the championship? I'll take the ring, every great player wants to know what that feels like, it's not selling out. Obviously you are saying these things because you hate him.

Malone did the exact opposite of that. How many athletes today are willing to take the huge paycut that he did?
I'm positive if Karl Malone and Gary Payton went to a team other than the Lakers, there wouldn't be a huge argument about these two being labeled as sellouts. But of course, people just find ways on hating the Lakers.

Eventually, the team cant afford to keep them and they want to move in a different direction. These days, you will rarely see a player stay with one team for their whole career.
