<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The lights went on at Byron Scott's home in the wee hours yesterday. After sleeping fitfully, the Nets coach finally had had enough of all the tossing and turning. "My wife said, 'Where you going?' Scott said yesterday. "I said, 'I can't sleep. I've got to get up.'"

So Scott got up and watched, of all things, a tape of Wednesday night's 96-93 loss to Memphis, his team's fourth consecutive defeat. Later, Scott would spend some time paying bills. He must have some expenses since Scott said that writing those checks was actually more painful than watching a replay of his underachieving team.

Obviously, these are not the best of times for Scott, now in his fourth season as the Nets coach. After two consecutive Eastern Conference championships, he is in the final year of his contract. And with his team losing 11 of its first 18 games and showing scant signs of life, none of the higher-ups in the Nets organization is beating a path to his door and begging him to sign an extension. Scott has been around the NBA long enough to know which way the wind is blowing, and if things don't change dramatically -- and soon -- he knows the next gust could blow him clear out of town.</div>

Do you think he's next to be fired? Much as I like Scott, I don't think his presence on the bench is healthy anymore. They're trying very hard to make the public believe that Kidd and company is happy with him. But we know otherwise.

Do you think he should be fired? If yes, who do you think fits the description as the next Nets' head coach?

Do you think he should be fired?
Yes, definitely Byron Scott should be fired. The guy can no longer inspire his players, and once a coach can no longer do that then its time to go.

I think Isiah Thomas will be a good fit for the Nets. His laidback approach to players coupled with his free flowing, run and gun style of coaching suits best with guys like K-mart, Kidd & Jefferson.

Should he get fired, no. Will he, maybe.

He brought the Nets to the Eastern Conference Finals two years in a row and has shown great coaching abilities. No one actually expected them to beat a Western Conference team so that should not be held against him.

The Nets should have renewed his contract if they are seriously intrested in him. If he is having conflicts with Jason Kidd they either need to work it out, or one needs to move on.

I still believe that Jason Kidd was the one responsible for those successes. Scott doesn't even know how to shuffle his team right during tight game situations

Eddie Jordan was the brains behind the Nets success.Which is one of the reasons why Jason Kidd was so upset to see him go.He was respected by the players and liked by them all.He also helped Kidd out alot during games when things weren't going his way.I feel the Nets slow start to due to EJ not being on the sidelines.
