i dont think so cuz they have a lot of talent but cant use it...gel? these arent rookies or young guys, these are big-time veterans and should know how to deal with it real quick...
...but someone else said so, its only like not even 20 games into the season, and MVP talk? not valid...most MVPs in sports arent even decided even at all-star break...its a little bit ion the first half of season but more importantly, the second half and down the stretch in clutch-time.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting saad:</div><div class="quote_post">...but someone else said so, its only like not even 20 games into the season, and MVP talk? not valid...most MVPs in sports arent even decided even at all-star break...its a little bit ion the first half of season but more importantly, the second half and down the stretch in clutch-time.</div> This is an MVP discussion based on the quarter season that has taken place, not for the end of the season. If it were the latter, someone could say that Paul Pierce might average 50 points per game over the last two months of the season and run away with the award. But its the former. So based on the first quarter of the season, KG is the MVP. Baron is a very close second, but I put him fourth before based mostly on performance. But even factoring in wins and standings, KG first and Baron second, because despite B Diddy's phenomenal numbers, KG is more consistent, and his team is winning because of him, not just because of the Cassell and Sprewell pickups. Duncan has to be high on the list because he too is consistent, but the reason KG must be higher this year is the same reason Duncan has beaten KG the past two years - though both have great stats, the one with more wins should be the MVP. AI has great stats and his team is first in the division, but he will really only garner more MVP votes when his team wins even more, and is actually close to the top of the conference. Shaq and JO have almost identical stats, and their teams are in first place, but JO has less of a supporting cast, so he should be higher. As for Kobe and TMac, they had a nice thing going last year, but neither deserved MVP. This year its a joke if anyone even mentions their names. The guys I have on my original top ten list earlier in this discussion, crazy as some may seem, are FAR more deserving than either of these guys.
Minnesota's record thus far? 12-8 Minnesota's record thru the first 20 games of last season? 11-9 Is Minnesota's record that much different? ...*Note, I am not saying KG doesn't deserve the MVP.....

How can you even bring the Wolves record up when they have had so many injuries. Szczerbiak, Hudson, Olowokandi, Madsen... all key componets to the squad.
Yea, I think, once Minnesota gets all their players healthy, they're gonna be good. Cause, right now, they're without a TRUE center and without their main 6th man. Not too mention a great scorer and shooter in Szcerbiak. Once all of them get back, they'll be a force to be reckoned with. They're pretty good right now, but, they'll be better when the rest come back.
Kevin Garnett is the MVP so far. Baron has fell off the last few games. "HEY BARON, STOP SHOOTING THREES! PENETRATE!" KG is putting up 23/14 and nearly 5 assists, 2 blocks and a steal. However, his team isnt winning as much as it should. At the moment, their is no clear-cut favourite.

New York, Utah (2), Ray Allen-less Seattle(BTW: Minnesota had Madsen and Olowakandi for that game), or getting slaughtered by a NJ team(Olowakandi and Madsen were playing). Point is, Minnesota has lost games they should have win, regardless of whose injured. Are you really telling me Utah is better than a Minnesota team fielding Garnett, Madsen, Olowakandi, Cassell, and Sprewell lineup? Minnesota is 12-8. Its not unrealistic to believe they should be somewhere in the 16-4 to 14-6 range.......

Utah is also better than San Antiono... whats wrong with your "MVP" Tim Duncan? (<font size="1">note: this is a smartass comment</font>) p.s. Madsen has been out more than 1 game and Olowokandi has been hobbled with knee problems the entire season... hes not even close to 75%... we play better without him anyways.

There is no way Utah is better than Minnesota. It was just on that given night, they were. That was my point. They lost to a lesser team. And yes, San Antonio is struggling. The reference to Tim Duncan is old, however. Last year, we argued the KG/TD debate to its death about who was the 'true' MVP. THAT WAS BASED OFF LAST YEAR. This is a new year. Do I believe Duncan to be the MVP thus far? No. Last year was last year. This is a new season. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> p.s. But in looking at some of their losses, he was there, as well as Olowakandi. I understand losing to teams like Sacramento, Dallas, etc. That happens. Both are good teams. But to Utah? C'mon.

Edit: And by that comment above, I mean that NJ is a good enough team to beat them. But they shouldn't have been able to beat Minnesota by that much. And by that, I mean Minnesota really screwed up in that game.

He doesnt steal the ball enough? If Garnett isnt your MVP... then please enlighten me to who is. Like I said... Olowokandi hasnt been himself, period. Have you see him play? The man can't move, cant rebound, cant shot, can do a damn thing. The only reason we have been playing him is because we dont want to be starting Fred Hoiberg at PF!! Yes injuries are part of the game but when we have most of the team, ON A REVAMPED team, you havta give a margin of error whether you want to or not. Losing to Utah is terrible. Period. Minnesota always has trouble beating them throughout the years. Not sure what the franchise record is but it is extremely loop sided. p friggin s. We lost to Sac in OT, beat Sac in OT and other than that... we havta been beat bad by any good team. All I am concerned is about the Wolves making the playoffs and how well they play against the power west.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting purehoops:</div><div class="quote_post">Then why am I arguing with you... </div> Dunno. Because its a message board? Because perhaps of the topic? To be honest, at this point, I DO believe KG is the MVP. But the thread entails so much more. Its not just a 'state' who your MVP is. Its why. And why not. I could argue for hours about why KG is the MVP. But thats not anything different than what's already being said. So I looked at it from the other angle. I tried to post things to make people think. Start a debate, like this. Although, I was hoping more posters would get involved. But before judging who the MVP is, you have to look at the pros as well as the cons. So far, no one besided me, has listed the cons to KG. Its not to say that I dislike KG, nor think he is non deserving......I just want everyone to get a clear picture of both sides. That was what I was trying to do.
