It is known the Celtics did make a run at McInnis during the preseason, but Ainge denied this scenario. "Someone told me about that and it's a total crock,'' Ainge said. "That's not even close. We never talked about that"</div> http://celtics.bostonherald.com/celtics/ce...g?articleid=175 This at least shows DA is trying to get something added to your team.
The first deal sounds just as good (if not better) than the Grizzlie's deal, but I guess Portland wanted a better shooter. If the pick that was in the offer was the Maverick's first rounder then that's also a possible reason for why this trade never was, but if it was the Celtic's first round pick then I would have done this deal if I were Portland. The Celtics are looking real bad and they might miss the playoffs thus giving the Blazers a lottery pick, while Memphis looks more playoff bound every week. Imagine: PG - James SG - Pierce SF - Wells PF - Baker C - LaFrentz That's a decent lineup, and it would give the Celtics the second option they miss with the absence of Walker. The second trade is ludacris. Ainge is a classy guy who likes classy players (As we all saw when Walker was shipped out) and I doubt he'd take on both Wells and Patterson. It's an interesting offer none the less. Imagine: PG - McInnis SG - Pierce SF - Wells/Patterson PF - Baker C - LaFrentz That lineup might but the Celtics back into playoff contention, but it's not the kind of team Ainge would like.
Right now, it's too much of a load to carry for Pierce, they need to do something, especially since they let the big one go yesterday.
The Celtics season is all but lost, after the blown 229 point lead, I don't have much faith in them. OB needs to play the younger guys, Banks, Brown, etc. I would rather have the Celtics not make the playoffs and get a good draft choice, because the way the team is set up they'll never be able to win anything, Dwight Howard or Emeka Okafor would look great in a Celtics uniform.
The Celtics needed Bonzi Wells more than Memphis. Memphis already has talent. Maybe enough talent to really be a contender if they played in the Eastern Conference. The Boston players just watch Paul Pierce play, and even Pierce is frustrated that his teammates can't step up and make things happen. Now I question that trade to give Dallas Antoine Walker. You think Boston fans like Danny Ainge now?
