<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">WASHINGTON (AP) -- West Virginia tied a school-record with 13 3-pointers, and the last one put the Mountaineers ahead for good in overtime Sunday in a 78-77 victory over Maryland in the consolation game of the BB&T Classic.

West Virginia blew a 16-point lead by scoring just five points in the final 13:38 of regulation. But Kevin Pittsnogle's 3-pointer and the Mountaineers' 8-for-11 free-throw shooting in the extra period sent the Terrapins to a last-place finish for the first time in their nine appearances in the tournament.

Drew Schifino led the Mountaineers (3-2) with 18 points, and Tyrone Sally had 14. West Virginia made 13 of 26 3-point attempts, and every player used by coach John Beilein made at least one except backup center D'or Fischer.

Jamar Smith had 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Terrapins (4-2), and Chris McCray had 16 points and seven assists. Point guard John Gilchrist had 15 points, seven assists and eight of Maryland's 19 turnovers.

Coach Gary Williams was again denied his 300th victory at Maryland.

Maryland scored on the first possession of overtime but didn't get another field goal until Gilchrist's runner with 14 seconds to play cut the lead to two. Patrick Beilein made two free throws to restore the four point lead, and the best Maryland could do was cut it to one when Smith put back a rebound on a second free throw by Mike Grinnon with 1.4 seconds left.</div>
