NEW YORK, Dec. 8 ? The Toronto Raptors? Vince Carter and the Los Angeles Lakers? Shaquille O?Neal were today named the Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, December 1 through Sunday, December 7.

The Raptors went 4-0 this past week behind two double-doubles (points-assists) from Carter and a team-high 23.5 ppg with 7.8 apg. Carter also shot .467 from the field (35-75 FGA) and .947 from the free throw line (18-19 FTA).

O?Neal and the Lakers have now won a league-high nine straight games including three this past week. O?Neal averaged 19.7 ppg on .513 shooting (20-39 FGA) with a league-high 16.7 rpg and 4.7 blocks per game. </div>

Congrats to both of them. Shaq was a monster last week. Tremendous on both the glass and the defensive end. Offensive numbers, mainly that .513 fg% are nice numbers to. Carter, wow, great week. I think really though, what is helping him is the prescence of Jalen Rose. Just the fact that they now have another scorer on the court is gonna draw some double teams away from him cause they don't want to leave Jalen open. But, nonetheless, great weeks by each of them. And, aside from great weeks individually, the big thing is the fact their teams are rolling right now. Especially the Lakers, who now look like the team that was so hyped coming into this year. They're gonna be hard to stop cause they're really playing in unison now.

 

Carter has really stepped it up after the trade. He has been leading his team to alott of victories.

 

Both of their teams are playing exceptionally well. Both players are well deserving.

 

The thing with Vince .. that the last couple of season and the beggining of this season he has been the only perimeter threat on the raptors .. which make treams throw the double teams at him without a worry ..
if u examine the 2000-2001 Raptors roster.. Charles Oakley coul knock down the 18 foot consistently .. Alvin Williams shot the lites out .. Chris Childs was a very good shooter .. and AD was on the top of his game .. so teams couldn't double and triple team Vince as much .. and had his best season so far ..

so look for Vince and the Raptors to do the same thing this season ( Hopefully )

Man, the 4.7 blocks are crazy ... Go Shaq

 

I think 4.7 blocks would be a little tough to keep going for an entire season. Shaq, really, I don't think he is an aggressive enough defender to do something like that all season. Plus, when he's in the game, the opponents are more of a perimiter team. When he's off the court is when teams do a lot of in the paint damage. But, nonetheless, he was great this week. I am really hoping that his trend of great defense can keep up. It really shows how much more aggressive he was on the defensive end and it would be beautiful to see that keep up.

I think cuz he had a game with like 8 blocks.. or 9 i forgot.

Congrat's to them... Shaq played great and Carter's Raptors are gonna have a bright season ahead of them after the recent transaction.

 

VC played great, he also lead his team to a 4 game winning streak.... (Jalen, and Donyell had lots of help into it too).

 

Yea, there were NO two players more deserving than these players last week.
