Oh... from the same season (98-99): BJ Armstrong averaged 3.3 ppg.... another fallen angel?</div>

Yeah, I'd say so, but I think he's really found his niche in upper management now, so maybe he's rising again.

You all have made a good list of players that are forgotten. Did you forget the prime fallen angel: Rodman?

    2 points

    1) Guys like Penny and Grant Hill shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath with Richmond, Tim Hardaway, Drexler, Nique and Ewing. Those are all future or present (Nique is already in) HOF'ers (with the possible exception of Richmond). Penny and Grant had what--3 or 4 great years tops? I know it's sad that their careers were cut short of where they might have gone, but they haven't earned the respect to stand next to real NBA ballers that put in 10+ years of good stats, game in-game out.

    2) You notice that with the exception of Rodman almost all the guys you mentioned never got a ring? That's one reason why every baller in the league wants one. What goes on in the championship series is always remembered. Right or wrong, its the reason why Robert Horry will be remembered 10 years from now just as much as a guy who probably won't get a ring like Marbury. And until a few other teams step up and grab their rings it guarantees that Duncan and Kobe and Shaq will be a little bit above the other great players in the NBA 10 years from now when they remember this era.

I wouldn't necessarily say that Rodman was a fallen angel, just as I wouldn't classify Nique as one. Both had long, successful careers, and only went off the radar in their late 30's when most ballers are retiring anyway. The real fallen angels are the ones who went out in what should have been their prime.

I don't think Rodman was a fallen angel - even in his last games with LA and Dallas he was getting 13 rebounds per game and playing gritty defense. Maybe in the sense of drifting out of the league through his behaviour, but his performances on the court certainly don't rank as a fallen angel.

If Rodman isn't a fallen angel then I don't know what is. After helping Chicago win their last 3 titles he and playing major minutes he played the only 23 games in the 98-99 season with the Lakers before he was booted from the squad. He came back to Dallas the next year and was booted again, this time after playing only 11 games. He has begged to be let back into the league more times than anyone can count and noone will take a chance on him. Heck, he's even been on WWF.

Rodman had a strong career before 'falling.' I think of a fallen angel as someone who's play precipetously fell off before they vanished from the league. Rodman's didn't. He was just too much of a liability for many teams, with his attitude.
