I'll admit I'm a Carolina fan, but even as such, I'm amazed by the play of the top guys on the team. Jawad Williams, Sean May, Rashad McCants and Raymond Felton are playing like seasoned college players now, not like last year with their flashes of brilliance but inconsistent play. Especially after Felton's record setting assist performance, I am convinced that this is a team that can make the Final Four at least by the end of the year. They kind of remind me of the '02 Dukies in their excellent balance between inside and outside play. Who agrees(or disagrees) with this, and how far do you think Carolina will go in both the ACC and NCAA tourneys?
I dont think there tearing it up yet. They barely beat George Mason a Division II team lol. Atleast Maryland smoked George Mason. North Carolina was losing that game at the half and George Mason is very undersized. I think Duke will win the ACC but there are alot of good teams in the ACC this year.
It doesn't matter how many they beat George Mason by or what the score was at HT.They still won big.No one will remember or care if they struggled or not they got the win which is what matters.NC beat a pretty good team in Illinois so no one can say they havn't beaten a top ranked team. Providence lost to Rhode Island yet destroyed (14) Illinois last night. Some teams don't play as hard when they know they are facing poor teams.

Wait for them to play Duke, Kansas, Uconn, Kentucky and then see hwo they do.

Carolina has three scorers who are averaging more than any Duke player right now. Maybe that won't make a difference when they play, but it shows that Carolina can really balance their scoring between those three while getting each guy enough shots. McCants was their leading scorer last year and is only third this year, but his average is still higher than last year, which I think is pretty amazing.

I am having a hard time understanding why you fail to give North Carolina the recognition they deserve. They beat the eleventh ranked team in the nation. Was that not a test enough? Right now North Carolina has played a harder schedule than Duke and is undefeated while Duke has gotten their behinds handed to them already this year.

Duke played the Spartans when they were ranked 5th I think. North Carolina hasn't played tougher teams.

When North Carolina played Illinois they were facing a legit top fifteen team, but when Duke played Michigan State they were playing a team that didn't deserve to be in the top fifty. It took a while for Michigan State to get their act together while Illinois has been consistantly strong. I should know that more than anyone.

If you did that then South Carolina would be #1 or #2 with their 8-0 record and okay schedule. You actually have to be able to assess a team's talent with your own two eyes. After a loss to the Globetrotters, a close call to Bucknell, a blowout in Kansas, and a blowout at home to Duke, I was able to see that they were not worthy to be in the top fifty. It's got nothing to do with the outcome of the games or the boxscores. It's all about how the team actually plays. In the Spartan's first six games they played downright awful. The Spartans were ranked in the top five early on because the experts thought they'd come out an play their best basketball from the start. However, it didn't work out that way. They didn't play their typical Michigan State basketball. When they do play their typical brand of basketball they can be a dangerous team, but the game against Duke said nothing about Duke because the game was won due to Michigan State's bad play rather than Duke's good play. This is why I feel that North Carolina should be considered better than Duke.
I have been a UNC fan for 38 years. The starting lineup when I became a fan was Dick Grubar, Bob Lewis, Larry Miller, Bill Bunting, and Rusty Clark. This team was Dean Smiths first Final Four participant. How do I see this years team stacking up? I think we're definitely a top 10 team, if no one gets injured, and we have 4 NBA players on this team. In Roy Williams we have a very competent coach. I look to win lots of games this year even though the ACC is extremely tough.

I would agree that Carolina is most definitely a top 10 team. With the current landscape of college basketball though, they could easily end up winning it all this year. They have four very talented players who all look like they're maturing and gelling together very well. Roy Williams will finally get an NCAA title, soon. Maybe not this year, but I would say five at the most. The 'Heels are back in effect.
