What Will it Take to Be a Contender?

    What will it take to be a contender

    What do you think it will take for the rapters to become contenders in the Eastern conference.

    Will they need to get a center, or have Alvin Williams score 15 every night.Or maybe give Vince the ball more.What do you think the raptors have to do to become the real thing, and play with the best teams.

    someone like theo ratliff or erik dampier is all we are missing. if we can get someone like that, all the pieces to the puzzle are in place

    I don't know about that. Even with Antonio Davis there, when he was playing better than either Damp or Rat, they weren't 'contenders'. I think they'll have to trade Marshall(I know he's been doing well) to get a real center(or they could trade Bosh, but they wouldn't do this, for good reason). And the center they would get probably wouldn't be as good as those other guys. I think Kelvin Cato might be a good guy to have, a big body to clog the lane and bang in the paint.

    Since when does the success of Alvin Williams depend on the Raptors success? No way does he need to score 15 a night just to win, weve got three players and possibly 4 that can all do that (not including alvin).

    Considering the Raptors are in the Eastern Conference I don't think there should be that much of a change. They've been playing great as of late. The only thing I would suggest is getting a Center that doesn't demand minutes, and if hes good defensively that would be a bonus, but they just need a little more depth off the bench. I dont know how much longer Baxter can be comming off the bench playing C, when he should be playing PF (or in another sense, having Marshall playing C and when Baxter comes on; PF, but Marshall himself is undersized).

    For most games Bosh should be Ok at C, but we need a defensive Center to defend players like Ilgauskas, Brad Miller, etc.

    I dont think the Raptors can get a good center without giving up something they dont want to, or would regrett doing.
