Diddy serious about aquiring a team

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting HipHopGame:</div><div class="quote_post">
If you think the competition between hip-hop label CEOs' opposing teams at the Entertainer's Basketball Classic at Harlem's Rucker Park is hot and heavy every summer, what do you think is going to happen when more than bragging rights is at stake and they're going after an NBA championship?

We could very well find out in the near future. A couple of weeks ago Jay-Z made it known he was interested in acquiring a stake in the New Jersey Nets and relocating them to his hometown of Brooklyn, New York. Now, according to a source within Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' camp, rap's marathon man seriously wants to obtain his own NBA franchise.

Not much more is known of P.D.'s plans as of yet, but the club-hopping renaissance man already has his NBA politicking game on point. Last week the Dallas Mavericks said they have chosen the fashion and music visionary to design their 2004-2005 season alternate uniforms. The source close to Diddy says that alliance was spurred on by a consultant who is helping Combs in his efforts to purchase a professional b-ball squad.

During an appearance on Howard Stern's syndicated radio program over the summer, Diddy said he wouldn't mind buying the New York Knicks, as he thought he could turn around their poor performance woes of the past few years. P.D. also admitted to the shock jock that he was not making any headway because the Knickerbockers' brass were not returning his phone calls.

You just love your pictures huh? I look at this a joke, Diddy owning a team, I just can't immagine that. Though, I think the design of the Mavs jerseys next year will look nice, since I do like his Sean John clothes.

I don't think Diddy has the funds to buy the Knicks franchise. According to Forbes magazine, the franchise is worth $398 million, which is second only to the Lakers. If Diddy has that type of money, I would be shocked.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Purple N Gold:</div><div class="quote_post">Are you guys kidding me? Diddy DEFINETLEY has that money.</div>That is a common missconception about rappers. There are probably enough rappers who have ten million or more in the bank to count with your fingers.

Maybe he could buy an NBDL team.

Sean Combs (I believe that is his real name) is estimated to be worth two-hundred and fifty million dollars.

    MTV Article -

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">P. Diddy wants to be a shot caller for ballers.

The hip-hop mogul, who owns restaurants, designs clothing and acts, is interested in becoming a co-owner of his favorite basketball team, the New York Knicks.

"I think I could do a good job," Combs told Howard Stern on his syndicated radio show Tuesday morning (July 22). "I think [they need] some new blood up in there. ... I'm not saying let's get rid of the owners, I'm saying put me down. Put me in the game ... because it's not going down right now. I wanna make sure we [are] gonna win."
    .........................

Forbes estimates P. Diddy to be worth about $250 million, although last week's release of the "Bad Boys II" soundtrack on his Bad Boy Records should up his earnings a bit. It's expected to debut at #1 with more than 300,000 copies sold, according to industry magazine Hits.</div>

He does not have the money, a few months ago when Forbes had their richest people in the world edition, they stated Diddy was worth approximately $258 Million. There is no chance that Diddy would spend ALL of his money on the Knicks and still come up short and be forced to find other investors or co-owners.

Diddy could probably afford teams in very small and unpopular markets such as Memphis, New Orleans, Milwaukee, etc. but as far as teams in large markets like New York, LA, etc. there is no chance he would be able to afford a team on his own.

I think Diddy should stay away from the NBA and focus his efforts on street ball and slam ball :P.

Well, I think that mewtwo should try to buy an nba franchise, that would be great. He would rule the basketball world and with his pyschic abilities, his team would win the championship every year. Where would his team be, maybe cinnabar island? Thats where he was born. Maybe the Cinnabar Celebis? That would be great.

Pdiddy also has his own clothing line, and has been pretty marketable. He might have more than people think. Cause his clothing line is very popular.

I don't like the idea of him owning a team. The NBA can't keep him from buying one, can they? I think it would be sort of unwise because he is in the music business, so he doesn't know much about how much money and work it takes to be an owner. I doubt it will ever happen.

I'm sure they will since the jerseys and the Mavs will be in Sean John advertising campaigns. They jerseys will probably be some stupid Gucci pattern or something, haha.

    Or suicide.

I think I'd be pretty upset about Diddy owning a team. It'd start the latest rap fad.

    "Muhfucka, I got TWO Maybach's."
"Bitch, everyone on my NBA team got a Benz on dub-deuces!"

I was speaking merely on a figurative level saying that he could afford those afformentioned teams in small markets because of their very low values according to Forbes. I never said he was looking into buying any of those teams at all.
