Jones & Butler Being Shopped <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Miami Herald (Scroll Down): "An espn.com report cited unnamed general mangers as saying the Heat has inquired about packaging Eddie Jones and Caron Butler in a trade so the Heat can free itself of Jones' hefty contract."</div> Full Story http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sport...all/7296460.htm
Who would have thought that Butler would be being shopped after an amazing rookie season? That tells you how impressed they are with one Dwyane Wade.
Hell yeah. I thought Caron and Dwyane would be the future of this franchise, but apparently they are banking on another lottery year so they can add some more talent to replace Butler. Who could they get though, for Caron and Eddie? Might actually be enough to get them over the hump. Could be a certain Rasheed Wallace and Jeff McInnis. Wallace would allow Odom to play the 3 spot regularly, which he couldn't do with Butler in the lineup. And McInnis has played with Odom before and can allow Wade to move over to the 2 spot. A lineup of McInnis, Wade, Odom, Wallace, and Grant, with Haslem coming off the bench could make some noise, especially in the weak Atlantic Division. And of course Jones and Butler would fit into the 2 and 3 spots vacated by the departing Wallace and McInnis, and would help Portland patch their image.
I do agree, Eddie Jones has not been living up to his salary this season. In the long run, losing Caron would be far worse than losing Eddie Jones. I highly doubt that the heat would trade away Caron, it's just not likely in the least bit and seems highly unrealistic. As far as Eddie Jones goes, if this turns out to be true, I just hope he is replaced by an existing NBA player of equal caliber rather than draft picks.
i wouldn't mind seeing Eddie Jones packing but not caron...He's having a bad year due to injury but i and everybody know that he's gonna be a superstar one day. I thought they were building the team with Dwayne and Caron....with Lamar and Grant providing the leadership....DONT SEND CARON PLEASE!!!
If this is true, I dont' think they're trading Butler becasue they don't want him anymore. I think they really want to get rid of Jones's contract and packaging Butler in the deal is the only way another team is willing to take Jones and his contract. I hope that makes sense....if not, i'll try to explain again...but that's what I think... EDIT: I just looked at the article and apparently, that's exactly the motive....maybe i should read before I post
It was officially confirmed today by Pat Riley that the Heat will not trade away Eddie Jones to get some salary cap room and that he has spoken to teams about possible deals but will only make one if the Heat could really benefit without factoring in any monetary aspects of it. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">He called Caron Butler, Lamar Odom and Dwyane Wade ''three cornerstones,'' but added that he doesn't intend on trading Eddie Jones or Brian Grant just to create salary cap space.</div> Full article: http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sport...all/7562625.htm
The Sixers would love to have both Also the suns wouldnt mind them either. but i think the Sixers need them most. Ayers get rid of the old people on the roster please.
I didn't expect them to trade Butler and it looks like they won't which is the right thing to do. He will be a very good player. They were probably just throwing him in with Eddie Jones to see if anybody would give them somebody valuable, since they wouldn't get anything for Eddie alone.
Jones and Butler dealt for a BIG man would benefit Miami immensely -- in fact keeping Eddie Jones and just riding him out for the remainder of his contract ( we'll never get equal value in a trade with his contract) and just trading Caron Butler might be the way to go -- CButler and a couple cap fillers could retrieve an Eddy Curry type player IMO.....
What do u think of this deal? Cleveland trades: C Zydrunas Illgauskas (14.6 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 1.5 apg in 30.4 minutes) PF Ira Newble (4.7 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 1.4 apg in 21.0 minutes) Cleveland receives: SG Eddie Jones (18.2 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.5 apg in 36.7 minutes) SF Caron Butler (4.8 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 1.5 apg in 24.9 minutes) Change in team outlook: +3.7 ppg, -3.3 rpg, and +1.1 apg. Miami trades: SG Eddie Jones (18.2 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.5 apg in 36.7 minutes) SF Caron Butler (4.8 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 1.5 apg in 24.9 minutes) Miami receives: C Zydrunas Illgauskas (14.6 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 1.5 apg in 31 games) PF Ira Newble (4.7 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 1.4 apg in 23 games)

I know they want cap space by trading EJ but you still want to try & improve or at least maintain the play of thier team. Giving them Caron Butler in that deal is to much. I think that Mami should re think trading Caron Butler. Give him a full injury free season to prove that last year wasnt a fluke. I still think that Caron & Dwayne still can be a deadly combo for the Heat in the future.

It would be a big mistake to trade Butler. The best thing to do is to wait out EJ's contract, then use that money to resign Butler and Wade to their extentions...

Also making more of a name for themselves. Maybe the Bulls or Memphis. Or even Goldenstate. They won't win if they stay with the Heat, plus you guys just got Odom. What I like about Butler is his heart, effort and tenacity. That man can defend better then pretty much anyone else, also he can score as much as anyone else. Same goes for Wade, maybe they can team up with Crawford, Wagner or even the Rockets.
if we keep wade and butler, why would the heat be losing all the time? They will be a deadly combo in the future and probably the Heat will have their prime time again i dont know if Wade or Butler goes to Chicago and they gonna win there...If they will win there, why cant they win with Miami?
Guys, Dwyane Wade is not going anywhere. This isn't even a rumor, he is here for the long haul and isn't going anywhere anytime soon. There is no chance on earth that Miami is going to trade him away, he won't be going anywhere until he is eligible for free agency, and even they he may stay. I do agree that Caron really needs one injury-free season to show his stuff. He is starting to get back into his groove and is improving with every game he plays, tonight he had 12 points.
