<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Trail_Blazer76:</div><div class="quote_post">No it is not, it is a game for popular players among 12 and 13 year olds who dont know ball. Yao made it, and I don't feel that Shawn Marion deserved it either.</div>

Ok...it's really "supposed" to be the game for Elite. That's why I think fan voting sucks, there can be players avg 20-10-6 or something(just making it up) and LeBron will start over them. That's why I said it's a popularity contest. LeBron automatically gets a free ride there, against players who've been trying to make it for years with similar numbers.

Oh, so now players go in the "elite" group for having one big game? Elite players also do not have games scoring 6-12 points either.

What wrong with what the fans want to see in a game that means nothing?

Most of the players would rather have a few days off.

^^^ Yes that is true how LeBron gets his free ticket to the game.

And fan voting can be bad for the PLAYERS, but you gotta somehow get the fans into it...

At least they don't gotta vote for the MVP and ROY etc...

Ok, so I guess players like Jason Kidd and Ben Wallace aren't elite then.

Actually, no. Some players take a lot of pride in this. It's all fun but when it comes down to the end everybody wants their team to win. You can see it on the court, Garnett didn't go out and score 37 casually Kobe was playing hard, MJ wanted that shot to fall more than anything, so did his teammates. Walker and Pierce were pissed about not getting enough playing time. This is more than just throwing alley oops and launching threes. Now the rookie game is a different story.

    Shaq, Grant Hill, Yao Ming...

All started in the game as rookies ahead of vets as well.

This won't be the first and won't be the last.

You talk and act like LeBron deserves to make it, you think he should make it? Tell the truth do you really think LeBron James should make it.

James doesn't deserve to make it, period.

Is it Lebron's job? his job is to get his team-mates involved first like Kidd does...Play an all-round game.Just because he is an 18 year old rookie doesn't mean he does not deserve to make the bench. If he keeps up the numbers of 17,7 and 6 going into the all-star game he DESERVES to be there. Not because the fans want him there.

But the hype for these players weren't close as to LeBron's. I could almost say LeBron is starting/making the all star team 60% hype, 40% numbers.

Oh, and Magic Johnson started and won mvp even though his career at that time was over with and he was retired for that time being.

Throw out this "deserve" crap, because it is about what the fans want to see, that kills that side of the argument.

Hype, how do you earn hype?

    By PLAYING BALL.

    Unreal.

You made that post basically say just because they don't score points doesn't mean their elite(the one before this). I never said anything close to that, Kidd has set his mark already as one of the best in the NBA, and the best at his position. Now I have no problem for LeBron to sneak a spot in the All Star game, but I want it to be because of numbers, not because everyone loves him and wants to see him start.

What are you talking about? He earned all his hype from playing "High School Basketball." Big difference.

IT IS HIS JOB IF HE WANTS TO BE A REAL ALL STAR. 17-7-6. Those are great but his points aren't quite there and he seems to get easy assits.. but he does put up those numbers.

So your sayin JUST CUZ HIS AGE AND THE WAY HE PERFORMS FOR HIS AGE MEANS HE SHOULD MAKE THE ALL-STAR GAME? No.

The All-Star game is suppose to be for ELITE AND TOP AND BEST PLAYERS OF THE NBA. Is LeBron top? No. He'll make those mistakes, hes 18 I don't care who you are you'll make more mistakes than someone who has played 5 years.

You got it all wrong buddy, 17-7-6 is not all-star, so i see your puttin him on your ballet. Over KIDD, IVERSON... etc. If you sayin that hes good for his age, that means hes an all-star, you got it wrong.

Now you have changed your arguement very quickly,17,7 and 6 are all-star numbers...Numbers you want thats what those are.If he manages to keep his form up then you should have no problem with Lebron in the all-star game.Although this game is for the fans and for the players to have some fun with their fellow NBA players...It's not about who is the best top 10 overall..Thats what team USA is for.

We got over that, we are talkin about deserving or fans knowin your name and number, and thats how it is like for LeBron James.

17-6-6, who will he start over tell me. Or even be on the bench over? who SHOULD he play over.

Only gets easy assists? His numbers are not all-star worthy?

I don't need to debate this any more with you guys.

    The words speak for themselves.
