There are all too many players who have been great througout history who haven't been adequately recognized by the teams they played for. I'm not sure if this is in the right forum, but here it goes anyway:
What players through NBA history have earned the right to have their jersey's retired by a specific team and have yet to see that occur? List the player and the team which should retire his number. They might have their number retired by another team, doesn't matter. If they earned it, list'em. (try to focus more on players already retired than on active players)

    Just a few examples:
    Adrian Dantley - Utah Jazz
    Elvin Hayes - Houston Rockets
    George Mikan - Lakers
    Chris Mullin - GState Warriors
    Pete Maravich - Atlanta Hawks
    Charles Barkley - Phoenix Suns

Charles Barkley is in the Suns ring of honor, that is the equivalent to retiring a jersey. I'm sure Chris Mullin will have his jersey retired sooner rather than later. I don't know what's up with Dantley or Mikan not having their jersey's retired. Do the Hawks even have any jerseys retired? Elvin Hayes, despite having his best numbers early in his career with the San Diego/Houston Rockets, is more known for being a Bullet. Maybe that has to do something with Houston not retiring his jersey, yet.

Thanks, I was pretty sure they retired Pettit's number but I wasn't completely sure. I was totally unaware about "Sweet" Lou Hudson's and 'Nique's number being retired by the Hawks.

Hayes did help the Rockets reach the Finals in '81 during his second stint with them though. But I see your point.

You can see a list of all retired numbers at www.nba.com/history/retired_numbers.html

I knew Barkley was in the Ring of Honor, but since they've retired some other numbers I thought they should do the same for Sir Charles.

    Miami Heat retired Jordan's number.

Zo will likely have his jersey retired, maybe Glen Rice?
