I think Penny would get his number retired in Orlando after he brought them to the finals and was named NBA first team.
you gotta be [edit] me... that'd be hilarious. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Vulgarity Please keep the use of profanity & inappropriate words to an absolute minimum. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting purehoops:</div><div class="quote_post">Webber but no Garnett. Truley Sad.</div> Webber did come in at the exact time that the kings went from the laughing stock of the NBA to a competitive powerhouse in the west. Granted he did get some help but he was the focus of our offense for a while. If the rock got in when we were losing im pretty sure c-webb is gonna go up in the raftz as well.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting joenatale1:</div><div class="quote_post">sooner or later their will be no #'s for the lakers</div> ^ dude what are you smoking on? GP and Malone's numbers won't be retired.. shaq yes.. kobe? man they can just use his prison imate number....
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting E-bro92:</div><div class="quote_post">^ dude what are you smoking on? GP and Malone's numbers won't be retired.. shaq yes.. kobe? man they can just use his prison imate number....</div> That's rough. But they'll retire Kobe's. And probably not Malone's and GP's. After all, they didn't retire McAdoo's. InNETSweTrust - why do you say that? The Kings have won far more than they ever have in the past 25, even 35 years with CWebb as the centerpiece. I'm no big CWebb fan, but all indicators are that he'll play there for some time, and that they'll at least make some strong pushes in that time, regardless if they ever win the big one. joenatale1 - the celtics will run out first. they retired anything to do with anyone who was involved with their run in the 60's. they retired jim loscutoff's name because he did an excellent job of riding the pine in bean town. And they'll eventually retire Pierce's. They'll probably retire 1 or 2 more from the 80's run as well.
If the NBA ended today, Jason Kidd's jerseys would hit the rafters faster than Bryant's, Garnett's, Iverson's, etc. There should be no question as to whether or not he deserves to have it retired because he has been on the first team four or five times, the second team once or twice, an MVP runner-up, a rookie of the year, an assists leader for five or six seasons, an NBA championship contender two straight seasons, and one of the best triple-double players to ever play the game. As for the question of where his jersey shall be retired, that is elementary. Kidd only played in Dallas for a few seasons, so rule them out of the picture. I'd like to say Phoenix, however, Phoenix is not on good terms with Kidd, so rule them out. That leaves you with New Jersey whom he lead to two consecutive NBA Finals and revived their franchise. Isn't it obvious?
Yes, but its not quite that simple. Although he deserves it, franchises often base their retiring jerseys on what the player did specifically for them. The question with Kidd is whether enough of his stuff was done during his two years in New Jersey. I argue that it has, especially with the two Finals appearances.
John Stockton-Jazz Holds all time NBA records in assists and steals. Spent his whole career with Utah and led them to two fianls appearences. Tim Duncan-Spurs Has carried the Spurs for quite some time, and got them 2 rings with him there. Likely to play in San Antonio his whole career. Kevin Garnett-T-Wolves Lead the T-Wolves to many playoff appearences. Can do anything on court, and has been a good leader for the T-Wolves.
"John Stockton-Jazz Holds all time NBA records in assists and steals. Spent his whole career with Utah and led them to two fianls appearences." He was talking 'bout active players.. but yeah Stockton's one should be retired soon
