<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Allen Iverson could be sidelined until January with a right knee injury and wishes the Philadelphia 76ers would put him on the injured list. The NBA's leading scorer has missed two of the team's last three games and said Tuesday he thinks he'll miss the 76ers' West Coast road trip that starts Dec. 26 at the Los Angeles Clippers. The 76ers play four games before then, starting Wednesday at home against the Miami Heat. "I don't want to go out west if I'm not able to play. The only thing that's going to do is bother me," Iverson said. "One day, I'll wake up and feel a little better and try and go out there and play, and that might not be the best thing." </div> More here.
Iverson is one of those guys who try to play through everything, which is how is was often like in the old days. Today, too many players are too soft to tough it out like he often does. Actually, management has probably tried to convince him to take some time out, and Ayers probably isn't against it. This way, he can try to work with the other Sixers into developing a strategy to deal with AI's absence, perhaps centering a style around Big Dog. That way, when AI does come back, if he has an off night the Sixers can switch gears and go through Glenn, like the old Bulls used to do with Pippen if Jordan was having a rare off-night.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MVPlaya:</div><div class="quote_post">I know his injury, but EXACTLY what is it? A sprain...bruise... or what?</div> Pretty sure it's a bruise. He's had lots of blood flowing in his knee or something.
Iverson has to play through it, literally. This team would fall on it's face without the Answer, he's a warrior, he'll play through it.
They'll fall on their faces, but that's why they should put him on the IL. The first five games of the '02 season he missed, and they lost all five, but guys like Speedy claxton and Coleman stepped up, and when he came back they were better for it. They almost need these periodic shakeups so the other guys don't forget how to play without AI.
kids like kyle korver come to life when stars like iverson don't play. korver had 14 points the other night in a sixers loss and hit 4 of 5 3 pointers.
Iverson is a warrior. If he want to be put on the injured list, then it is serious. He realizes that conference games are more important, and they probably wouldn't have beaten western teams even with him there. Rest up, and prepare for the boys back east.
Normally, I wouldn't by into players who say that junk, but this guy has played through enough injuries to earn credibiltiy. Iverson is a tough guy, if he says he needs to stay home, then that's probably what's best.
