It was kind of obvious going into the season that Barbosa wasn't going to get much playing time since Marbury plays all but 6-8 minutes of the game, but he is getting less playing time than I originally thought he would. What does everyone see in his future? In tonight's game he is showing what he can do by using his length at PG to his advantage. He makes good passes that may not lead to assists, but lead to eventual baskets. His continuing development will be something to keep an eye on as the season goes on.

I think he's pretty good, and I think Phoenix should start giving him some minutes at the SG spot also, because he seems to be a pretty good shooter. But I have a question about the Barbosa trade, did Phoenix trade their 2004 1st Round Pick, or a future one? Because I seriously hope they didn't trade their 2004, or they better start pushing for a Playoff spot. Barbosa is good, but he's not a lottery pick.

they sure dont play him very much for a first rounder, di they trade a first for hi? if so its silly to limit him to this much playing time

I know the terms of the deal to be a first round pick. Barbosa was actually thought to be a lottery pick with his size and "potential" at PG, but he dropped down on draft day.

so if the suns miss the playoffs and are in the lottery do the spurs get the pick? or is it lottery protected?

I don't think there is any protection on the pick. The Suns expected to make the playoffs so they probably didn't see any need to put any sort of lottery protection there. I don't know what the rules are on "future first round picks" so I'm not sure when the Spurs can take the pick.
