I think that move is neccessary for the Rockets to keep their good image. We sure don't wanna turn into the Trail Blazers.

I think it was a good move for the Rockets to release Eddie Griffin. His behavior was not only giving his team a bad image but it was also a detriment to his team. Add to that his legal troubles have only begun, and now you have someone who is a "black hole" in your franchise. Good move for the Rockets.

Unable to find an acceptable trade for Griffin, the Rockets likely have or will have to reach a settlement on the remainder of his contract. Griffin's contract was worth $2.3 million this season before the salary lost during his suspension. Rockets officials declined to comment. Griffin's agent Arn Tellem did not return calls. </div> http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/s.../bk/bkn/2307158
It would've been better if the Rockets had kept Richard Jefferson. With him around, they would not have traded Kenny Thomas. Now we've lost 2 power forwards.
Not to add insult to injury.............BUT The Rockets owned picks 13, 18, and 23. Could have landed Zach Randolph at 18, Arenas at 23. At 13, they could have kept Jefferson. Hypothetically producing a lineup of: Ming/Cato Randolph/Taylor Jefferson/ Arenas/Mobley Francis Of course, the likelihood of all that coming to form(as in still obtaining Ming) would have changed.........but still. Its interesting. Any comments Dexter?

If they knew then what they knew now they certainly wouldn't have made the trade that they did. At the time though, it was a good trade. It is quite amazing to look at who we could have gotten for what we got. The Eddie Griffin move might come out to be one of the biggest busts in our franchise history. All that talent, he just got involved in the wrong things. Sad. BTw, Vintage, we had a thread over in the Rockets forum and I already commented there. I merged these two threads together.
Griffin goes from a guy expected to be a big part of the Rockets future who would play the 3 and the 4 spot to being released.Real shame what has happened to him...So much talent wasted.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kid Canada:</div><div class="quote_post">I think he will sign with Phili. But other team interested are the Magic and the Raptors.</div> Playing basketball is the last thing on Griffin's mind right now.Don't expect him to play at all this year.
all this just for an assult charge?? did i miss something else? what other ill ish has he been gettin into?

At Seton Hall, he punched his own PG (andre barrett). What the rockets did was gamble on this kid...in football terms, you can get a Randy Moss or you could end up with a Lawerence Phillips. The rockets loss this time, but by no means did the rockets mess this up. Griffin messed it up.
That's right notMuchgame, and can't feel sorry for him either. We all have personal problems, but because they are athletes they think they can get away with how they go about taking care of it. Play the game, get paid, can't beat that.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dj_premium_plus:</div><div class="quote_post">all this just for an assult charge?? did i miss something else? what other ill ish has he been gettin into?</div> Add to that he shot a girl outside of his house. He skipped practices, games, and he wouldnt even inform the Rockets management. Kid Canada I have no clue what you are thinking. There is no way he is playing basketball this year. Phili wouldn't even want him. Next year is a big question too. Next year depends on if Rusty Hardin can get him off on all his charges and whether or not Griffin gets the mental help that he needs.
It is official. Today Carrol Dawson announced that the Rockets released Griffin. Here is the Press Release: http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Rockets_Re...n-93944-34.html
Magic definetely wouldn't sign him, KC. They have the good team image, they don't want anyone bad on their team. Do you guys think he will ever play in the NBA again?
