Good point, but one reason Dumars might be leaning towards getting him is to clear up some cap space. I believe this is Mercer's last season, but I might be wrong. After his contract goes up, Detroit can free that money to paying Memo's new contract, which is what he has already said he's trying to do.
Both Mercer's and Sura's contracts come off the books at the end of the season so either way it won't affect the cap.Dumars is basically just looking for another guy to give the team a boost off the bench for this season.
