<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">WE'VE FINALLY FOUND someone who believes the Warriors were right in passing up prep standouts Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady and Amare Stoudemire on draft day in order to select Joe Smith, Todd Fuller, Adonal Foyle and Mike Dunleavy. OK, so Rasheed Wallace would make a bad general manager. But what about a forward to play in tandem with Troy Murphy for the rest of the decade? Think of the possible advantages: Wallace's addition would allow Dunleavy to develop into a specialist -- a designated marksman off the bench -- rather than worrying about bulking up to help his rebounding as he loses his shooting touch. Nick Van Exel might get so excited at the sight of a legitimate star as a teammate, he would burn his option to walk this off-season and stick around long-term. And most important, you'd have a go-to guy down the stretch of close games, rather than the Warriors having to play "Hot Potato" as they've done seemingly on a nightly basis this season. There are negatives, of course, but you had to know that as soon as the name Rasheed Wallace came up. </div> Full Article: http://www.oaklandtribune.com/Stories/0,14...1834011,00.html
That would be great for the Warriors, that would make me happy to see a guy like Rasheed come over to Golden State. Like the article says, they are a lot of negatives and I'm not a big Rasheed Wallace fan either, but I would have to say he would make a nice addition to this team.
If GS gets Wallace they will GREATLY improve. NVE and Wallace would be a great force. If I were a Warriors fan I would want this to happen...
If they make a move this year and try to get Wallace they will pretty much have to give up Erick Dampier to make this deal work. If I was a Warriors fan, I am not sure I would want Erick Dampier gone since he is such a force on the boards. Having Murphy, Foyle, and Wallace however would allow Golden State to put up a decent frontcourt line-up against most teams(Lakers are an exception) According to the article the most likely trade would sent Erick Dampier, Avery Jonson, Evan Eschmeyer to Portland in exchange for Rasheed Wallace. However the question is whether Golden State wants Rasheed's off the court issues and whether they are willing to part with their big man, Erick Dampier.
Wow, I am at a lost of words. Of coarse I would want this trade to go down. Yes, there might be some negatives but at this point you have to take the risk. He is a legitimate superstar and might even attract other talents to the bay area in the future. This would also help out our playoff chances for THIS year. I'm tired of looking in the future, the time is NOW. I would hate to see Dampier go but this has been his first good season in a while, maybe ever. This guy has had so many injuries that he has become unreliable. I say go for it.
If Murphy can return to last season's form, and Foyle can get back to his shot blocking habits of old, then the Warriors don't lose much. But the questions I'm wondering are: can Adonal Foyle last more than 30 minutes in a game?, and How will Mike Dunleavy react to the trade? The second question I think is more major. Dunleavy played a miserable rookie year backing up Jamison and Murphy, and now he finally emerges as a potential star and the Warriors go grabbing a new forward. As the Warriors, I wouldn't hesistate, but as Mike Dunleavy, I'd be looking for a ticket out of town. The Warriors players aren't known for being team guys, going back to Webber and now with Arenas spurning the team to go elsewhere for money and glory. Dunleavy could be next, which would really hurt the future of this team. And there's the good possibility that, even with Wallace, the team won't make the playoffs. I don't think Rasheed is any better than Jamison, and Arenas was putting up better numbers last year than NVE is this year. The only improvements would be an improved Jason Richardson and the Xfactors of Cliff and Mike coming off the bench. But I doubt the product will be better. The new-found chemistry in GS won't take much to get disrupted, and Wallace is more than enough. I think the trade would be interesting, but could quite easily help Portland out more than GState.

Wallace brings a lot more to the table than Jamison did. Jamison was not an outside threat and wasn't as good on block. Arenas played a lot more minutes than NVE is. He has been injured and they have a very good back up in Speedy Claxon. Not a fair comparison.
I dunno about this Rudeezy...This is a risky trade and your Warriors have only started to get their act together. This could potentially set them backwards if it doesn't work out. On the other hand, isn't Wallace going to become a free agent? This season could be a "test drive" and if he responds well with the warriors, they could keep him, if not they can dump him. Hey, i just talked myself into liking the trade for the warriors (that is if wallace is gonna be a FA)

What about Cardinal, Cheaney, and Claxton. How about that for a full healthy bench, to go a long with a powerful starting lineup. Sheed is much better than Jamison, he plays smarter for one thing, and is a more physical player, I always thought Jamison was kind of 'soft'. Arenas of course is better in the long run but Nick Van Exel is a clutch player who will always keep you in games with his 3 point shooting, and can heat up at any time and single handedly win a game. Hopefully something along these lines will happen where the Warriors acquire Wallace, would be a nice deal to make.

It is a risk but like I said, its about time we start taking some. We haven't been in tehe playoffs in years and this might be a huge step to getting there. Then again... Purple n Gold- Good points.

Wallace needs a fresh start, he's tired of being in Portland and needs a new team to start with. Warriors will be perfect for him, as far as Sheed going to be a free agent, GS will know rather to re-sign him or not, like you said it could be a 'test drive'. If all goes bad with re-signing, hey the Warriors will take 17 M in free cap, if GS matches the trade cap wise, that is.
Claxton's a good backup, but so was Boykins. Anyway, I think Jamison is and has been more consistent than Wallace. He is a legit go-to guy. I really don't think you can say that about Wallace. He has his moments, but overall? The Blazers looked to go to their other players before him. I respect his game, but I think the Blazers would benefit from a Damp-Wallace trade more than the Warriors would.

You cannot depend on him to go one on one in the final minutes. There are not many people that can guard Wallace on the block. He also brings a shooting presence that Jamison lacked.

He would always 'choke' when Warriors needed big baskets, and wouldn't make smart decisions.
