Todd MacCulloch

Boston:
Raef Lafrentz
Brandon Hunter
Chris Mills

X-Factor
Allen Iverson - how will the Celtics respond to the 76ers without them having their leading scorer, Glen Robinson has been known to step in at times like this.

Key Matchup:
Ricky Davis Vs Glen Robinson - A run and gunner vs a midrange killer. These two will be the ones who make the game interesting.

Keys to the Game:

Philadelphia - Feed the ball to the inside to, Coleman or Thomas. Rebound the ball. Give it to Robinson at midrage hes a killer with the midrange jumper. Stop the running game of the Celtics, and guard the 3 ball.

Boston - Take advatage that AI is out. Give the ball to Pierce and Davis. Stay in the perimter. Have good post defence, you should be able to take this one easily.

Predection:
I want Philly to win here.. but I have to be real here, Boston in a close one.

Yeah, my prediction is the same. I think Allen is the key to beat Boston. Although he does not guard Pierce, McKie usually does, so he will have to watch him. Althought Glenn is big, we cant have him on Paul. Robinson is too slow and is not a defensive stop. McKie and Snow will have to contain him all night and keep him from scoring, especially the 3.

I really want to see how well Ricky Davis will play... but Celtics have Pierce compared to Sixers star Glenn Robinson... [IMG]

Who knows tho, if Sixers can play as a TEAM real well, I believe they can pull off an upset.

Great points and I too will look to see how Ricky works with Boston. He seemed crazy on the Cavs, great scorer and team leader, but I think hes a better fit with the Celtics. Any other thoughts before the big game tonight?

Original Post: UPDATE 1 (1st Half)
Its updizzle time...here is the first one

Sixers 6
Celtics 8

6:10 1st Quarter

Last Play(s):
Eric Snow Missed First FT (Trade SNOW)
Eric Snow Made Second FT (STILL Trade SNOW)

UPDATE 2

Sixers 8
Celtics 11

5:37 1st Quarter

Last Play(s):
Shooting Foul On Blount (Kenny Thomas)
Boston Full Time Out

Close game so far, Coleman got into early foul trouble with 2 fouls in the game. He probably has to sit out for the rest of the quarter Welsh and Pierce are the only two people who have scored (Pierce 5, Welsh 6). I'll just keep this dead forum updated as the game moves along...

UPDATE 3

Sixers 15
Celtics 16

2:56 1st Quarter

Last Play(s):
Paul Pierce missed 3-pt. Jump Shot
24-second shotclock violaton turnover on Paul Pierce
Full Timeout Philly

Sixers caught back up after being down by 7 points, and now only down by 1. Celtics coach recieved a tech. and Snow made the FT. Pierce and Welsch are STILL the only people scoring for the Celtics, with 8 points a piece. If Celtics keep this 2 man team up, I don't think it will be a good game for them lol.

UPDATE 4

Sixers 19
Celtics 23

End of 1st Quarter

Last Play(s):
Mike James missed 3-pointer
Defensive Rebound by Eric Snow

Kenny Thomas hit a three... [IMG] to put the game at 18-19. Sixers were only able to score 1 point after that which led to the end of the quarter. The Celtics are gettin some more players into the game...Ricky Davis has a dunk off a steal and McCarty has hit a 3. Pierce leads all scorers with 10 points and Kenny Thomas leads the Sixers with 8 points. Sixers are 4-6 at the line, they need to start hittin more FT's if they want a chance at this game. This is still a close game I think it can still go either way...

UPDATE 5

Sixers 28
Celtics 23

8:33 2nd Quarter

Last Play(s):
Aaron McKie made 3-pointer assist Kenny Thomas
Lost ball turnover on Ricky Davis, Stolen by Aaron McKie
Aaron McKie made Driving layup
Ricky Davis missed Jump Shot
Defensive Rebound by John Salmons
Glenn Robinson missed Jump Shot
Offensive Rebound by Glenn Robinson
Shooting foul on Ricky Davis
Full Timeout Boston

WOW the Sixers have outscored the Celtics 9-0 in the 2nd quarter. Sixers seem to be playin some great team ball. McKie and Kenny Thomas each have 10 points. Sixers are goin on a run and hopefully they can keep this up...keep everyone ( [IMG] ) updated...

UPDATE 6

Sixers 34
Celtics 29

6:02 2nd Quarter

Last Play(s):
Glenn Robinson made Jump Shot, Assist Aaron McKie
Ricky Davis made Jump Shot, Assist Jiri Welsch
Glenn Robinson missed 3-pointer Jump Shot
Defensive Rebound by Jiri Welsch
Ricky Davis made Jump Shot
Full Timeout Philly

Celtics are creepin back up, Philly needs to calm down and continue what they did earlier in the quarter and build the hype and energy back up. Ricky Davis seems to be leading Celtics back up and he now has 8 points for the Celtics. Sixers need to keep their lead... and put Kenny Thomas back in! More updates on their way.

UPDATE 7

Sixers 39
Celtics 29

5:07 2nd Quarter

Last Play(s):
Samuel Dalembert made 3-pointer, Assist Kyle Korver
Personal foul on Amal McCaskill
24-second shotclock violaton turnover on Mike James
Aaron McKie made Layup, Assist Kyle Korver
20-second Timeout Boston

DALEMBERT HIT A 3? Sixers are playin some amazing ball... keep the lead and keep the energy up!

UPDATE 8

Sixers 42
Celtics 31

2:13 2nd Quarter

Last Play(s):
Kyle Korver made Layup, Assist Eric Snow
Shooting foul on Jiri Welsch
Kyle Korver made Free Throw
Lost ball turnover on Jiri Welsch, Stolen by Kenny Thomas
Lost ball turnover on Kenny Thomas, Stolen by Jiri Welsch
Lost ball turnover on Marcus Banks, Stolen by Aaron McKie
Glenn Robinson missed Jump Shot
Defensive Rebound by Paul Pierce
Full Timeout Boston

Sixers seem to still have hold of this game and most the Sixers that played have scored except for Salmons. Sixers are playin great D and great team ball... keep this up!!! As I will with my update [IMG]

UPDATE 9

Sixers 45
Celtics 33

0:50 2nd Quarter

Last Play(s):
Samuel Dalembert missed 1st of 2 Free Throws
Samuel Dalembert made 2nd of 2 Free Throws
Travelling turnover on Walter McCarty
Lost ball turnover on Eric Snow, Stolen by Walter McCarty
Shooting foul on Samuel Dalembert
Paul Pierce missed 1st of 2 Free Throws
Paul Pierce made 2nd of 2 Free Throws

Sixers still play great ball...they shootin free-throws fine but I want their lead to be as far as it can so hit more free-throws!!! Almost half time...

UPDATE 10

Sixers 45
Celtics 33

End 2nd Quarter - HALF TIME

Last Play(s):
Out of bounds turnover on Kyle Korver
Marcus Banks missed Jump Shot
Defensive Rebound by Kenny Thomas
Eric Snow missed Jump Shot

Eric Snow... please hit a jumper because if you can improve this, I might like you! Eric Snow can't hit any jumpers, he is 0-3 on the game and all his shots are from the top of the key, or near the FT line. Korver did hit a three, I guess it was a mistake on the site. Sixers are playin GREAT basketball and they need to keep Pierce out of this game and prevent him from gettin hot. Glenn Robinson only has 4 points...hopefully he'll get some more in the 2nd half to help the Sixers.

The Sixers outscored the Celtics 26-10 in the 2nd quarter...and are now up by 12. They should keep this up in the 2nd half if they want to win big and not have any doubts in the 4th quarter or last minutes. Aaron Mckie (4 ast) and Kenny Thomas (5 rebs) are tied up with 12 points for the Sixers. Pierce leads the Celtics with 12 points himself... keep them Celtics off course and cold by playin good D and we can pull this one off. We played great in the 2nd quarter and this should help us goin into the 3rd.

Sixers, keep the electricity, keep the hype, keep the energy...and I'll keep everyone updated [IMG] :thumbsup:

UPDATE 11 (2nd Half)

Sixers 47
Celtics 35

9:29 3rd Quarter

Last Play(s):
Aaron McKie missed 3-pointer
Loose ball foul on Mark Blount
Derrick Coleman missed Jump Shot
Offensive Rebound by Kenny Thomas
Kenny Thomas missed Layup
Defensive Rebound by Mike James
Lost ball turnover on Vin Baker, Stolen by Kenny Thomas

Sixers still have the lead by 12...keep everyone updated.

UPDATE 12

Sixers 51
Celtics 41

7:09 3rd Quarter

Last Play(s):
Derrick Coleman missed Jump Shot
Defensive Rebound by Paul Pierce
Jiri Welsch missed Jump Shot
Offensive Rebound by Vin Baker
Vin Baker made Layup
Aaron McKie made Driving layup
Shooting foul on Samuel Dalembert

Sixers are playin some great offense but need to play better D and stop trading baskets...great game otherwise! We still got the lead...we need to get the hype back.

UPDATE 13

Sixers 51
Celtics 44

6:31 3rd Quarter

Last Play(s):
Mark Blount missed 1st of 2 Free Throws
Mark Blount made 2nd of 2 Free Throws
Derrick Coleman missed Layup
Offensive Rebound by Derrick Coleman
Lost ball turnover on Derrick Coleman
Vin Baker made Jump Shot, Assist Jiri Welsch
Full Timeout Philly

DAMN, the Celtics are climbin back up again. Sixers are lettin Vin Baker get hot, but they need to keep Pierce off as they still are. Play some D, don't let the energy go to the other team. We need to get the energy and electricity back that we have in the 2nd quarter. What happened with Kenny Thomas? They should have kept him in. We got Dalembert and Coleman in right now so rebounds should be comin easy...go SIXERS! More updates comin...

UPDATE 14

Sixers 53
Celtics 46

4:49 3rd Quarter

Last Play(s):
Aaron McKie missed Jump Shot
Offensive Rebound by Samuel Dalembert
Samuel Dalembert missed Dunk Shot
Jumpball received by Mike James
Shooting foul on John Salmons
Paul Pierce made 1st of 2 Free Throws
Paul Pierce made 2nd of 2 Free Throws

Sixers please don't let Pierce get hot goin into the 4th...get the ENERGY AND ELECTRICITY BACK!!! Wish we had AI here...

UPDATE 15

Sixers 59
Celtics 53

2:20 3rd Quarter

Last Play(s):
Kyle Korver made 3-pointer, Assist Derrick Coleman
Jiri Welsch made Driving layup
Eric Snow missed Layup
Defensive Rebound by Vin Baker
Mike James missed Layup, Blocked by Kyle Korver
Defensive Rebound by Kyle Korver
Personal foul on Walter McCarty

There's a TV Timeout now... but the Sixers are lettin the Celtics get back into this game! Without Korver's three Celtics would only be down by 3, and if SNOW made that lay up they would be up by 8. Celtics are outscoring Sixers 20-14 in the 3rd, Sixers need to finish this 3rd quarter strong and contain Pierce. Kenny Thomas... put him back in (I HOPE HES NOT INJURED [IMG] ) I'll keep everyone updated as the game moves along...SIXERS BRING BACK THE ENERGY, HYPE, AND ELECTRICITY TO QUIET THE CROWD!!!

UPDATE 16

Sixers 65
Celtics 57

0:41 3rd Quarter

Kyle Korver made 3-pt. Jump Shot, Assist John Salmons
Personal foul on John Salmons
Paul Pierce made 1st of 2 Free Throws
Paul Pierce made 2nd of 2 Free Throws

Pierce is gettin to the line, we need to stop him. KORVER IS ON FIRE!!!! 4-4 from 3 point land and 5-5 for the game. Keep feedin him the rock and let him torch up the net! Sixers need to play better D... and get that energy and hype back that they had in the 2nd quarter.

UPDATE 17

Last Play(s):
Lost ball turnover on Mike James, Stolen by Kyle Korver
Lost ball turnover on Kyle Korver, Stolen by Paul Pierce
Paul Pierce missed running 3-pointer

Sixers finished this quarter pretty strong, only being outscored by 4 (20-24). Pierce seems to be gettin the flow, Sixers need to precent Pierce from gettin hot. Just keep feedin Korver the ball since hes on fire. Let him torch up the net in Boston... he needs not to get carried away tho... if he doesn't feel it no more, dish it...here we go in the 4th quarter!!! GO SIXERS!!!!!!! Ricky Davis missed Driving layup
Defensive Rebound by Kenny Thomas

DAMN, we are lettin this slip away. We need to gain that energy back, Pierce still hasn't caught fire and it is best kept that way. Wow looks like our predictions were waaay off. I really think that Sixers can take the W in this game if they continue to play the way they are now. If so, we'd be 2-0 against Boston this season. I dont see why we should be doubted without AI sometimes, and we are even infront of Boston in the standings. This game is a challenge, but nothing like against certain teams.

-Quick comment-

MVPlaya- You see that shot by Pierce?! That was clutch! [IMG] Sixers down by 5 (75-70 with 3:52) left and Eric Snow just missed ANOTHER jumper. Jeez!

This is one bad 16-0 run against Philadelphia. And Coleman is at the line with 7 pts and 4 rebs, made the first one, and the second one. Sixers down 3 (75-72) The rest is to you MVPlaya, im gonna go pray for a victory.

EDIT----------------------------

MCKIE HIT THAT 3 OMG, Sixers up by 2 and go on 7-0 run. This is great!

Ah coleman turns it over and Welsch draws the foul on Korver. Welsch hits both free throws. 77-77 tied ahhh

JAMES HIT A 3 DAMMIT! Where the Defense.

God Snow, I cant believe he took that shot. Now an intentional foul.

Im out.

WAIT! McKie hit a 3! We are only down by 1. Amazing. Pierce was all over him and Aaron hits the 3 and now has 24 pts, a season high. but Welsch hits the first free throw, 84-82 hits the second and its 85-82.

EDIT-----------------

Snow misses lay up and blocked by Baker but get o-rebound and scores 2-intentionally fouls Pierce, he hits 2 free throws. AHHHH Snow made bad pass and only .2 seconds left. We lost!

Team Leaders for Sixers
PTS: McKie 24
AST: Snow 10
REB: Thomas 9

Team Leaders for Celtics
PTS: Pierce 31
AST: Pierce 7
REB: Pierce/Baker 10

Well Snow had a bad night, only 2 pts and 1-10 from the field although great passing night keeping the assists up without Allen. I know I went crazy too MVPlaya when Snow messed up, but a bad night for him isnt in cause to trade him. Im sure he will pick it up. Pierce was a beast and managed to bring his team back when down by as much as 14. Much props to Aaron Mckie, season high, 24 pts, and hit 4-7 from the 3 pt line.

Sixers go to 13-14 on the year and now stand at 3rd in the Atlantic behind .5 game to New Jersey Nets and the Boston Celtics.

Next Game: Home against Orlando Magic. GO SIXERS!

Thats what I was wondering also, Kenny solid rebounding with 9 but only 12 pts, I felt he could do much better with the team hurt with injuries. Robinson shifted back to the bad game stage only 4 pts but also 5 rebs. Thats basically what I got to say on tonight's loss.

Man what a game. It was anticipating until the final buzzer. Although I thought we could have taken this one easily.

Only if Allen were there...

That isnt a line we should go by. Our team shouldnt have to need Iverson to win games. Now they move 3-3 without Iverson this year which suprises me. Tommorow night Philly takes on Orlando who always have been easy for the 76ers in the past seasons but Tmac and co. are picking it up and are sick of losing. Its going to be a toss-up tommorow night and either team can take it.

Sixers played hard and nearly got the W.However Paul Pierce was too much for a Sixer team needing their superstar.

As for Snow...He needs a real good player besides him to be made look real good.Decent PG though..that plays good defense.

I think Snow isn't just horrible, tho some people see hi mas decent and I have nothin against that. He has no jumpshot, he can't shoot even if his life depended on it. He can shoot free throws well, and play Defense, and keep control of the ball but he isn't good at crunch time. Every team needs a PG...I think we should trade him.

Eric Snow has been awful this season. I can only think of one game where he actually played half decent. Gotta play Korver more. The boy is doing well.

lol you didnt see it. Then where were you getting the Play-by-Plays. You did a great job at that.

Anyway my prediction on Snow, well he this year is a terrible shooter/scorer, yet I find is defense and passing incredible. He manages to put up 6+ assists a game. Last night had 10 assists. He and Iverson together are great teammates. Did anyone notice that Snow has bad scoring nights when Allen isnt there, or is it just me? I mean, he doesnt do amazing every time Allen is there, but he atleast doesnt go 1-10.
