<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">A businessman has filed a $15 million suit against LeBron James contending the Cleveland Cavaliers' rookie backed out of a deal to make a documentary film and broke other promises.

Joe Marsh, majority owner of Magic Arts & Entertainment in Aurora, says that in July 2001 he loaned $100,000 to James' mother, Gloria, and his father figure, Eddie Jackson.

The lawsuit contends that as part of the loan agreement, James agreed to give Marsh exclusive documentary rights to his life and have Marsh involved in endorsement and marketing deals.

James won't get sued, it was only an oral agreement.

An oral agreement can still hold up in a court of law. LeBron is going to face these type of lawsuits for the rest of his life. A lot of people will be after his money and most will go about it in a shady way. "More money, more problems."

All the haters in the world today. [IMG] Isn't the second time he got into legal trouble. If this does go to court It's going to be on every news channel, every hour and every day until the end of the case. Man I would'nt want to be in his shoes if that did happen.

Look on the bright side at least he isn't going to court for the same reason as Kobe.

However we do not know that it was an "binding" agreement. Lebron could claim that it was just in causal conversation. Also, oral agreements are much harder to prove than written ones. That is why you always get everything in writing.

This quote from the article sums it all up for me:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">James' attorney, Fred Nance, denied Marsh's claims. Nance said James did not sign a written agreement and all the claimed agreements were based on conversations. </div>

    Case should be dismissed.

Like $15 Million is a big deal to Lebron. Thats pocket change to him.

I agree with Dex though, the case should be dismissed.

This guy was just seeking a settlement. He probably knew he didn't have enough evidence to actually win a lawsuit but decided to see if he could bring up enough issues to force LeBron to settle.
