I've made some changes in my plan to rebuild the Hawks. Tell me what you guys think of these new deals... Trade No.1(this is a deal between Atlanta, Seattle, and the LAClipps) Hawks get: Chris Wilcox Brent Barry Vitaly Potapenko Rights to Sofoklis Schorentsias Sonics get: Shareef Abdur-Rahim Lee Nailon Clippers get: Vlad Radmanovic Dan Dickau future 2nd round pick(from Atlanta) WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE HAWKS: Wilcox is oozing with potential. He has amazing athleticism and can throw down some vicious dunks. With more time and a larger role, he could turn into a star. Sofoklis Schorentsias is a foreign big man who also has alot of promise. Brent Barry provides 5.5 million dollars in cap relief. Potanpenko is just a filler. WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE SONICS: Reef would give the Sonics exactly what they need, a lowpost scorer. He and Shard would make a very formidable frontline. Lee Nailon can provide some instant offense from the bench. WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE CLIPPS: Wilcox doesn't really have a place on the Clipps since they locked up Brand long term. They could definately use some help at the SF and PG positions. Radmanovic and Dickau would provide that. VladRad is a lanky SF with a good shooting touch. He can also play some at PF. He would be a good compliment to Brand on the frontline. Dan Dickau would give the Clipps a true PG in the backcourt. He has been a bust so far, but a change a scenery could do him some good. Trade No.2(this is a deal between Atlanta & Indiana) Hawks get: Jonathan Bender Scott Pollard Jamison Brewer 2004 1st round pick Pacers get: Theo Ratliff Travis Hansen WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE HAWKS: I believe Bender is in the same position as Jermaine O'Neal was in at Portland. I think if Bender got a real chance to play, he could turn into a star. He has incredible length and athleticism(he's a legit 7'footer). He can also stroke it from beyond the arc. Scott Pollard is a hard working big man who provides energy off the bench. Brewer is just a filler. That pick could fetch the Hawks a solid player. WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE PACERS: Ratliff and O'Neal would make one hell of a frontline in the East. Theo would definately bolster their defense even further. And even better, they save money with this deal. Trade No.3(this is a deal between Atlanta, New York, & Utah) Hawks get: Frank Williams Othella Harrington Charlie Ward(would be waived) 3 million dollar trade exception 2004 1st round pick from Houston via Utah Knicks get: Jason Terry Alan Henderson Jazz get: Kurt Thomas WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE HAWKS: This deal saves the Hawks money and brings more youth to the team. Trading Terry and bringing in Williams is a risk, but it could pay off. Frank has shown flashes of being a good PG. With more time he could turn into that pass-first PG this team has been looking for. Charlie Ward would be waived, which will provide the Hawks with an immediate 4 million dollars in cap relief. That 1st round pick from Houston could be very good since the West is so loaded and Houston could miss the playoffs or get knocked out the 1st round. WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE KNICKS: Isiah Thomas is a big fan of Jason Terry(he tried to get him while in Indiana). Terry would bolster the Knicks backcourt. He is lightning quick and can shoot the ball. Henderson, when healthy, is a solid backup big man. WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE JAZZ: Adding Thomas would really help Utah continue their playoff streak. What's even better, is that he has an option on his contract, so this doesn't hurt them cap wise. Trade No.4(this is a deal between Atlanta & New Orleans) Hawks get: Bryce Drew James Lang 2004 1st round pick Hornets get: Stephen Jackson Jacque Vaughn WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE HAWKS: They do this to get another 1st rounder. Getting these 1st's will allow the Hawks to get some good talent and sign them to cheap contracts for 3-4 years. WHY IT COULD WORK FOR THE HORNETS: Adding Jackson and Vaughn would really help New Orleans advance in the playoffs. Jax is that big, defensive guard this team has been looking for. Vaughn is a solid backup PG. 2003/2004 HAWKS ROSTER(to finish out the season): PG-Frank Williams/Jamison Brewer SG-Brent Barry/Dion Glover C-Nazr Mohammed/Scott Pollard/James Lang SF-Jonathan Bender/Boris Diaw/Chris Crawford PF-Chris Wilcox/Othella Harrington IR: Bryce Drew & Vitaly Potapenko PROTECTED LIST: 1.)Chris Wilcox 2.)Jonathan Bender 3.)Frank Williams 4.)Boris Diaw 5.)Nazr Mohammed 6.)Othella Harrington POSSIBLE 2004/2005 HAWKS ROSTER: PG-Frank Williams/Hawks 2nd rounder(Moore or Duhon) SG-Boris Diaw/Hornets Pick(Paulding or Drejer) C-Hawks Pick(Okafur or Podkolzine)/Nazr Mohammed/Vitaly Potapenko SF-Jonathan Bender/Rockets Pick(Rice or Kryapa)/Chris Crawford PF-Chris Wilcox/Othella Harrington/Pacers Pick(Sow or Jefferson)

From a Clipper fan's perspective, I do not like this deal at all. The Clippers don't need any help at the three - Corey Maggette is full-time there. He also has a pretty decent backup in Glen Rice, so that spot is locked. Radman can play the four, but he's way too soft for this team. The Clippers already have an ex-Sonic big man in Peja Drobnjak who doesn't play any defense. Dickau as you said has essentially been a bust, and in my opinion is no better than Keyon Dooling. Wilcox is a player with all-star written all over him, and Schorentsias might end up being even better. It's a tremendous deal for the Hawks and Sonics, but the Clippers would take the very short end of the stick on this one. I think the most realistic and beneficial deal would be the Hawks/Pacers trade. The Hawks would get younger with Bender and Brewer while freeing up some cap space. The Pacers would become the odds-on favorites to win the east with a solid center like Theo in the fold. This trade seems to work out best for both teams. Just as a sidebar, here's a proposed deal that myself and Starman85 were kicking around: A Utah/Atlanta swap breaking down like this: Utah receives: PF - Abdur-Rahim PG - Jason Terry Atlanta Receives: SG - D. Stevenson SF - M. Harpring PF - K. Clark 1st. or 2nd. round pick The Hawks can begin the rebuilding process with a young, talented shooting guard in Stevenson. Harping, a Yellowjacket, would become an instant fan favorite, while providing some toughness and character for the team. Keon Clark would be a solid big man for the Hawks to bring off the bench to spell Theo, or if he's also moved, could slide into the starting lineup. As for the Jazz, obviously they would get the PF they need in Rahim and JT can play at the 2 spot, the position he's best suited for.
How unrealistic is that? You think the Magic will agree with that one... Plus, you even didn't look at the salaries
