    Howard to Seattle or Cleveland

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Howard, who signed a five-year contract worth almost $30 million during the summer, is rumored to have been mentioned in trade discussions with the Cavaliers and the Seattle SuperSonics. There has also been speculation, none of it substantiated, that Gabriel ought to trade Tracy McGrady -- who is making $13.3 million this season and will earn almost $14.5 million in 2004-05 -- for players of equal value and avoid the risk of McGrady opting out of his contract at the end of next season.</div>

Gabe also mentioned somewhere, don't have an exact link though, that we couldn't get enough for Juwan, so he likely won't get traded. Tmac getting traded is out of the question. If Gabe trades Tmac he deserves to get shot.

I wouldn't listen too much to what Gabe says - he will, in all probability, be fired at the end of the season after all.

I think Juwan is dish-able, but the Magic want a shot blocking center who can actually play more than 25 minutes, and some bench help. Getting a guy like Flip Murray along with a contract like Vitaly Potapenko might make sense. All it takes is a couple other guys to even out the contracts and the deal is doable. Not too much challenge even for Gabe, which might be why Monty williams was brought in.

Howard to Seattle makes a lot of sense, and theoretically could put them right back in the playoff picture. Packaging Flip with a bad contract may just work, too.

    Seattle.

I don't want Howard here, why would we need him when we have Boozer, Battie, Ilgauskas, and Diop.

    Keep Howard

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The losing streak is over, and now Howard can sleep again. Don't expect a few trade rumors to keep him awake.

"I knew they were going to come," Howard said of the innuendo.

The Magic have to trade him, you say. He's a 30-year-old power forward, and the team already has a promising 22-year-old power forward in Drew Gooden. Howard is getting older, slower. He doesn't make enough big shots. He can't play center. His jumper looks like it was cobbled together with chicken wire and bubble gum.

Howard knows all the complaints and criticisms. He has heard them for years.

Indeed, Howard struggled the first 12 or 15 games of the season. But what we forgot to tell you about was the cyst on his right wrist, which made it difficult to follow through on his shot. You hear little about that because Howard never complained, never made excuses. He's too cool.

There is no miracle trade out there to fix this 8-23 team because 8-23 teams don't make great trades. Such teams get raided.

It would be wise for the Magic to let Howard help them through this. They would discover his greatest virtue, the one his grandmother instilled. He won't quit.</div>

BTW I'm getting back to quality posts now so expect big things from TimFlem

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Juwan Howard isn't about to be traded, according to Gabriel. He says the team isn't working on any significant trades right now.

I think he should stay. He's starting to gel with the team. Unless something comes along that we just can't pass up, then trade him, but I would just stick with him for now.

I agree.. I thought that at the begining when we got him that, ok good pick up but thats not what we needed.. But it seems to be paying off. Dont trade him, unless its a extremely good deal...

Juwan needs to be traded sooner or later. He does essentially the exact same thing that Gooden does, at no higher of a level. He has experience and can (or should, at least) teach the young'ins some things--true. But, he was never a leader, and isn't likely to command enough respect and defensive attention now. Gooden, on the other hand, has the athleticism and potential that was evidently lost in Howard some time ago. He has to be the priority in the frontcourt. Right now, their games don't really compliment each other for obvious reasons. Perhaps Orlando can make some twin-tower (for the East, anyway) duo out of the two and make the veteran+up-and-comer pair succeed ala TD and D-Rob. I'm not about to hold my breath though.

I'm certainly not saying that Howard should be traded for a 2nd-round pick or something, but there are plenty of sucker GMs out there; hopefully the Magic can exploit one of them for a blue-collar rebounder/shot-blocker.

I had liked to see him play for the Cavs, had been nice to use him instead of Illguaskas, because Big Z is a bad center righ now, and Juwan Howard could be good in Cavs
