<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">PORTLAND, Ore. ? Shawn Bradley is out indefinitely with back spasms, which won't help the Mavericks' efforts to improve their defense in the near future.

Indefinitely could mean 2004, and coach Don Nelson said Tuesday he isn't planning on Bradley being back anytime soon. That means Nelson will continue working without a center taller than 6-7.

"It looks that way," Nelson said. "We knew we were a little vulnerable when we made those trades. We needed a full season from Shawn. I'll keep waiting. It may not happen at all. We may have to do something else."

Big loss for the Mavs. This guy could create havoc in the Zone Defense with his long body.

Man, one of the few decent big men they have is gone. He was certainly a presence down low with his length.

How many minutes did Bradley get per game anyway? I never thought they put him out there enough for him to really contribute. I hope he can recover well enough to play next year. In the meantime, the Mavs might want to move some players to get some big men who can play D. They didn't have good defense before, so now they're really hurting.

Do you guys think that with Bradley out(and most of the depth the Mavs had at center with him) Nellie will try to actively pursue the Jamison-Ilgauskas trade?

He said before that Dallas wasn't actually trying to get something done, but that if a no brainer came along they'd take it - getting a prime center like Z seems like a no brainer, especially when the Mavs are like 4 deep at the forward spots.

With Bradley out I think the Mavs are gonna try to trade or deal for a Center.

I think they will have to make some type of move. To get anywhere in the playoffs they need a center that is larger then 6-7 and Dirk is not a center.

What that move is, I dont know. Adding Ilgauskas I think would be an excellent move for the Mavericks.

What are some other centers they might like to make to deal for?

THis sucks for the Mavs I mean Bradley nver tries in the offseason anwyay, but was stil a presence and their only big man.

a Trade is a no brainer. HAve there bene any more trade rumours for a big man. Maybe they'll puruse(forgets name...he was a euro who retrired who played on the blazers) again?
