vs. Houston Rockets(14-10) at Denver Nuggets(17-11) Time: 7:30 pm CST Location: Pepsi Centre Head Coaches vs Jeff Van Gundy/Jeff Bzdelik Probable Starters vs. Jim Jackson/Carmelo Anthony vs. Kelvin Cato/Nene vs. Yao Ming/Marcus Camby vs. Steve Francis/Andre Miller vs. Cuttino Mobley/Voshon Leonard Rockets Consistency is the key. Anyone who saw Houston take on the Lakers on Thursday could have easily mistaken them for a defensive powerhouse. Jeff Van Gundy has applied his magic, and the Rockets are warming to it. This same presence must be applied to tonight's game in the Pepsi Centre. On the offensive end, good ball movement is necessary in getting the ball to Yao, this man is well on his way to 8 foot, and must not be wasted. There is a lot of talent on the opposing roster, and the Rockets defence must prove they are here to stay. Nuggets What an exciting team the Nuggets are this year. With coach Bzdelik up for Coach of the year, this young team is on its way to success. A key to the game it whether or not Camby will play, Yao must be contained, and Camby must take on this challenging role. Once Yao gets down low, it is often all over, and therefore (as Dexter has pointed out) the Nuggets must deny him easy access to the hoop. My Prediction These are two of my favourite teams in the league and I am looking forward to this match. Rockets were extremely impressive against the Lakers last night, and for this reason, I am backing them for the win (providing Camby does not play his just minutes.) Rockets 97 Nuggets 95 Updates Marcus Camby has called himself a game-time decision because of lower back pain and a groin injury. Denver Post Denver Nuggets rookie Carmelo Anthony could miss Friday's game against the Houston Rockets because of a lingering toe strain. "If it's something that is still bothering him, we're going to hold him out. No question his health is much more important to me right now," Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe said Tuesday. 9NEWS Other Previews Dexter's NBA.com ESPN CBS Sportsline Sports Illustrated <font size="1">Ps this is my first game preview, please do not be too judgemental. </font>
Hey jump you're practicing being the mod position? I'm sure it's going to be a nice preview when it comes out.IMO
Awsome preview for your first. On the road to becoming a mod practice huh. Anway I think the Nuggets will win this one by 7. They've been playing good ball lately and should walk away with the w. I also think that yao will slip up and not play 100%. This is a key factor for the rockets and without yao playing 100% great basketball for at least a half they will lose.
Good first preview. I think that the Rockets win this one. I expect Yao to dominate, but Melo keeps it close the whole game. Rockets by 5
Good first preview, keep them coming With Melo and Camby doubtful I have to go for the Rockets..more so after their win in L.A last night
Thanks guys. Im going to try and post a lot more in this forum, get it more active. Yao should be massive in guiding his team to the W.
Great Preview Jump, I know you worked hard on it. The game really comes down to Yao and how big of a factor he is on offense. If he is able to get his way then the Rockets will win, however if the Nuggets are able to force the Rockets to go to the perimeter game early, then I think the Nuggets will win. I am really interested in watching the match-up between Carmelo Anthony and Jim Jackson. Jim Jackson is said to be a good defender, however he needs to step up and show it tonight. It should be a good game, hopefully I can watch it.
this happens everytime...people just go with whos the typical better team. if its denver vs a typical 'bad team' everyone picks denver to win. if its denver vs a typical 'good team' everyone picks denver to lose. and many times they are wrong on both accounts. "oh denver is playing well and they are at home and melo is awesome BUT it is houston vs denver so i pick the rockets to win"
I think it will be close, and I would usually pick Denver to win, but I just feel that Yao could dominate down low. It could be him who decides the outcome of this game.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NugzFan:</div><div class="quote_post"> "oh denver is playing well and they are at home and melo is awesome BUT it is houston vs denver so i pick the rockets to win"</div> Not the case. If you look at the match-ups tonight, Houston definetly has an advantage. Denver has nobody that is able to stop Yao. If you read through my post you will see that I gave reasons as to why both teams have a chance of winning. If the Rockets didnt beat the Lakers last night I would have predicted a Nuggets blowout tonight. However that win gave the Rockets some confidence. Houston killed the Nuggets in their first game this season, if they execute their gameplan they will win tonight as well.
What an amazing come from behind win for the Nuggets, Melo scored 37 to lead them to this win. Been a rough month for Melo, losing pub to James and Wade, maybe this huge game can start a new streak for him.
After a huge Rockets win, they do this. Melo was unbelievable tonight. He scored a career hight 37. Andre Miller helped with 22 points and 7 assists. Rockets barely lost. Ming had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Francis with 14 points, 10 assists, and 6 rebounds. Taylor provided some scoring with 22 points. Good game both teams.
What a great game for both teams. Anthony scored 22 of his season-high 37 points in the third quarter while Lenard made three clutch free throws with eight seconds left to secure the 95-94 win for Denver. "This is the biggest win (of the season), especially to be down by 16 and to win by one," Anthony said. "We fought hard tonight, and other teams will know that we'll fight to the end." Recap Box Score <font size="1"><font color="Gray">Carmelo Anthony and Voshon Lenard congratulate each other for their part in Friday's win.</font></font>
Melo was amazing going 9-11 from the field in the third, 4-4 from deep, outscored the rockets 22-21, i think this will start a streak for him
Wow, I think Melo sealed the rookie of the year with this performance. The Nugs proved they are for real with this game & a SERIOUS play off threat-not to mention they have ALREADY eclipsed last years nuggets win record 1/3 of the way in to the season. LOL @ "Rough month" for Melo. Beating last years win total & leading your team to 1st in the Midwest would hardly count for a "rough month" in my book- especially with the 9-21 record Lebron has. Not to mention Melo has more wins than Lebron's & Wades teams COMBINED.
