I don't know what happened recently. However, I do know that he would have been a first round pick had he left college after his junior season. His stock was high and scouts liked the way he played. However, as they saw him play more and more in his senior season, his stock decreased and his play was less than impressive in pre-draft camps. I thought that he'd at least be a second-round pick, but I guess not.

No, i heard he didn't enter the draft after his jr year because he was told he would get drafted second round at best. So he stayed another year to no avail...

It ain't hard to tell: he's playing over here in Belgium for Oostende. Last year, they were close to signing Vonteego Cummings (ex-NBA), but now they have Gardner. He didn't play too well in his first 2 games, but I hope he'll be great for them.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Oostende has reached an agreement with Jason Gardner (178-G-80, college: Arizona) to replace Dickel.

Gardner started the season in Slovania playing for KrKa Novo Mesto, where he played 9 games and averagd 11.4 ppg, 3.1 apg and 1.8 sp. He was released there after Novo Mesto changed coaches.

Gardner enjoyed an outstanding career at Arizona where he led his team to the NCAA tournament 3 times and played the final against Duke in 2001.</div>

Yeah, I see your pain. It will save scouts money to go overseas to scout him and he plays against ex-NBAers in the NBDL. An elect few of us will also catch him in action.

Saw Jason Gardner play on TV today. He looks nice, but his team lost in a match-up between the two elite Belgian teams: Charleroi - Oostende.

He got outplayed by Charleroi PG Roel Moors though, who scored 23 points.

...Who knows... he might play in the US this upcoming season... He's contract is over with ostende (unfortunately) they didn't resign him. He had a foot injury at the end of the season, that's why the board decided to let him go... But i guess i hope he gets another chance with a good team in europe... Jason is a top player...no doubt... [IMG]

Ok i feel you that he should be an nba player but... it has done many players at times good to play overseas before hitting the league... I mean the years Jay was with us...hey in Uleb (second highest league in Europe) he was the ONLY one in Europe that shot his free throws at 100% ...not kidding. Solid defense... Thanks to him we won so many games in the last seconds because of his fearless shot. I recall one game... down by so many points... thanks to Jason (and sorry) no one else...it came to an overtime...and there Jason just killed them with his freethrows. He's a well respected player here, no doubt... he had the misfortune of his injury to his foot, which i'm confident that it will completely heal ( probably already has). Jason, nothing but respect to both him and his family... I really hope for him to find a team (maybe nba).

A guy who's Arizona jersey was retired immediately following graduation, alongside already-established NBA point guard Mike Bibby's jersey, isn't even drafted in the second round. I have always wondered how the heck that could be. Gardner is a baller. I hope he can pull a Rafer Alston and get in big with maybe a team that needs some new blood.

Hollis Price and Jason Gardner were both very good college basketball players that I believe to this date should have be given an NBA contract. The latest I've heard is that both players are playing in Europe currently and one would hope they get a pro contract sometime soon.

Hollis Price and Jason Gardner on their respective European teams...

Hey, you're from Belgium? I've been to Oostende and stayed in Kortrijk while playing ball against Kortrijk's Lucky Lukes.

It's good to see a Belgian club signing such a great point guard, I hope he does great things for the team as well.
