WHAT IS GOIN ON WITH THE LEAGUE? From the late 80's goin into the mid 90s, the league was very great to watch. THey played with all their heart. Every team had like more than one superstar. The players were less worried about their egos and statisitcs and wanted the Win. I do not know if I am wrong, but the players dunked way more in games, and had a better mid range shot. You had countless dunkers, Nique, Dee Brown, Shawn Kemp, Kenny Walker, Kenny SMith, etc. Now you don't get a lot of that. Now a days you just SEE TATOOS, CORNROWS, and SLUGGISH transition. DONT GET ME WRONG the league is awesome right now, it will get to that peak of greatness in a couple of years with on coming stars like Dwayne, Melo, and THE KING. But right now it DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME FLARE back then. Im just letting you guys know whats up. The Jumpshot has been gone with the wind, but yeah I know Ray, Kobe, Tmac can all shoot, but back then even the dudes who dont have big names hit their shots. HigH top fades, fat laces, better rap, better players, high top shoes, and a little bit more better league... CAnt wait till the league gets like that again...right now its looking pretty good my friends. Today's corporate schemes and flash have to go.
The only thing that doesn't exist in the league is a good mid range jumpshot, i know some people can shoot, but back in da days everyone had a shot, you wouldn't make to the NBA unless you had a shot. By the way props to Rip Hamilton, maybe the only guy who really can rely on mid range jumpshot.
theres been so many discussions about the hip-hop revolution in the NBA. many are nostalgic for the past when players seemed to have a deeper understanding of the game and less flair for ultimately pointless aspects such as all those acrobatic dunks and the crazy AND1-style dimes that jason williams popularized a few years back. my take is that the league is on the verge of a talent explosion. with the already active european influx and the ascent of asian players on the NBA's horizon, international and domestic talent is going to take the NBA to another level in the coming years. the NBA is in good hands.
I agree, the league has taken on a selfish aspect lately, whatever happened to everyone moving to get open, now it's just a one on one game.....I feel players who don't want their stats such as Carmelo and Lebron, have a better understanding than veterans such as Ricky Davis and Antoine Walker. Look how the two carry themselves, they put the team before their stats, but they're going to the rack if anything else.
