Wang ZhiZhi on The Tonight Show Headlines

Wang ZhiZhi was actived earlier today coming off the IL and he played his first game tonight for the Heat against the Bulls. He spent 4 minutes on the court and had 1 rebound and went 0-2 from the field.

What do you guys think about him? I think he's great, but he has a lot of work to do before he can really begin to contribute to this team and probably won't be able to actively contribute anything until next season.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">MIAMI. Dec. 29 - Miami HEAT President Pat Riley announced this afternoon that the team has activated center Wang Zhi-Zhi from the injured list and placed forward Udonis Haslem on the injured list with a right knee sprain and a strained Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL).
Zhi-Zhi, who was signed as a free agent by Miami on Dec. 1, was placed on the injured list on Dec. 12 due to right knee patella tendinitis. The 7?1?, 284-pound center, appeared in two games this season with the Los Angeles Clippers and totaled four points and one block in nine minutes before being waived on Nov. 21. During his four-year career, Zhi-Zhi has appeared in 103 games and has averaged 5.0 points, 1.9 rebounds and 10.3 minutes. </div>

Also on another note, I was just watching Jay Leno, and since it's Monday they always do Headlines. The final headline was "Wang will be big in Texas" from when Wang ZhiZhi played for the Mavs, I didn't really find it too funny because i'm one of the few people who know that his name is pronounced WONG despite being spelled with an A.

I just thought you guys would like to hear this, and I find it coincidental how ZhiZhi was actived earlier today and played his first game tonight for the Heat on the same night Leno made fun of him.

Wang Zhizhi was interviewed, check it out:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">InsideHoops.com: Where do you live these days, during the season and the summer?

Wang Zhizhi: I live in Miami right now. Miami's a nice city. But my home is in L.A. After the season I'm back in L.A.

InsideHoops.com: How young were you when you first started playing basketball?

Wang Zhizhi: Seven years old. Because my mother and father were basketball players. My father is a coach for little children. So, seven, eight years old, my father (and I) play together.

InsideHoops.com: There are lots of very tall players in China now, more now than in the past.

Wang Zhizhi: But China needs good guard. Good guard and good forward. A lot of good center but is no guard (laughs), terrible, no pass ball, only center.

InsideHoops.com: So you need good guards there now.

Wang Zhizhi: Forwards is okay, but guard, I need good guard. America has a lot of good guards.
