Lang was picked as more of a project than anything else, in the mold of Chicago's Eddy Curry. However, NO is playing for the present rather than the future, and GM Bob Bass apparently values providing for injury more than providing for the team's talent pool several years down the road.

He has talent and a body for bangin' inside. When (if) he uses to learn his body, he could be a decent C in the league

What team(if any) do you think will pick him up? I mean that in an NBA-sense, since he could probably tack on with a CBA, NBDL or European team somewhere. And if he does choose the minor-league route, how long might it take for him to get back to the show?

I think there's an outside chance that another NBA team may pick him up. He's a very talented kid, he just needs a ton of seasoning. He wasn't anywhere near ready to make the jump to the pros, yet his size and athleticism will probably provide him at least one more opportunity to latch on with somebody before the season is over. If he does have to go to the 'DL, I think that there's some sort of contract to be signed which obligates the player to the franchise. I don't know exactly how this works, but I know that the players aren't just free to leave whenever an NBA franchise shows interest.

I'd say dude is headed to the NBDL...that should definetly help this cat develop..once he gets at least a partial grasp of the NBA style game he should be picked up by another squad..

Lang is just another victim of the now-popular high school-to NBA batch. He would have been better served had he gone to college but is now out of the league. Still a good future prospect though.

Definitely true. I think at least two years in college would have made him a top 5 pick, not least because his college coach would have helped him with his weight. Now he's gonna be closer to a Robert Traylor or Oliver Miller than a Shaquille O'Neal.
